Saturn - No different by
Arkal
I have had some bad experiences with a brand smacking new 2004 Saturn
ION 2 that I thought I should share with everyone. I thought I bought
an inexpensive car, but I think I have bought a CHEAP car. The dealer
is Budd's Saturn of Mississauga (Ontario). Don't even go there. They
are terrible.

Gas cap problem?? by
A Registered Trademark
I have a check service engine soon idiot light coming on my 2000 sl1 single
cam. I thought it might be time to invest in a obd-ii code reader but I did
have a co-worker suggest that the frequency of my light coming might be a
gas cap problem. The light comes on and stays on when I start the car...

CD player problems by
Mike
Just added a factory CD to my 94 SL2. CD inserts and spins up okay, but
after 10 seconds the display says 'err' and the CD is ejected. It seems
to be a known problem as some vendors offer a fix (~175.00), but I can't
find any specifics. Can someone shed some light on this?
TIA
Mike

Redline ION test drive by
marx404
Finally, I got a few minutes to drive the new ION Redline. Picked out a nice
empty winding service road and got it up into 4th gear. The shirt throw
shifter just snapped into each gear almost effortlessly. Man, I cannot
remember having such a thrill behind the wheel of a sport compact in a...

Hood release cable - 96SL1 by
Michael Baum
Hi,
My car's battery probably needs to be replaced, so I 'just' wanted to
check on some specifics before leaving for work this morning - when
the hood release cable on my 96 SL1 Saturn decided to break.
Any smart ways of opening the hood now? Do I use pliers or is there a
way from under the car?...

Consumer Reports: "Disappointing ION"... by
Warren
Hey group,
Just thumbed through a Consumer Reports Used Car Buying guide, and read
through the Saturn "S" series info. I recall when CR first reveiwed the SC
and accurately stated "the rear seats are not fit for any living creature"
but gave the car high marks elsewhere...but now, in this current...

odometer gear failure by
Mike
Well the odometer failed for the 2nd time on my 92 SC. The first time I got
a refurbished insturment cluster from saturn for a fairly high price. Now
Saturn wants $500+ for a rebuilt cluster.
All because a small plastic gear failed in the odometer.
I think I have a good solution: ...

Dealer part prices going up... or just for me? by
Tim Shoppa
Except for oil filters and other common consumables, I've had good luck
over the years buying parts from Saturn dealers. But yesterday I got
a new tensioner assembly for my 92 SL1 and was shocked at what they
wanted: $141. A couple months before, I'd done the idler pully, and that
was $40... plus...

Need some advise on replacing struts on SL2 by
James1549
I have changed a dozen pair or so of front struts over the past 10 years. Well
I decided to let the local front end shop do the job since I am no longer crazy
about messing around with a loaded spring bomb!
I decided against the local shop doing the job when the NEW OWNER came up with
a price of...

how to remove PCM from a 1992 sl2? by
TheKorn
My wife's SL2 is toast. I'd like to remove the PCM and poke around,
for no real other good reason than I'd like to poke the PCM with a
sharp stick and watch it squirm. :)
I've been able to get the PCM unmounted so that it's just being held
on by the wires that lead into it. So far so good. ...

Radio Codes by
Jim Stuart
I just bought a 1996 SC1 with a am\fm cassette and equilizer. I just
got the car out of the garage and the radio was showing "LOC" in the
lcd display. I have no idea how to unlock it. The dealer tells me that
for $50 they would do it. Hope someone can tell me what the default
codes are and what...

P0404 EGR Flow code by
Mike
I have a 1998 SC2 with like 96k miles on it. I have replaced the O2 sensor,
Catalytic converter, and muffler. The thing goes through a quart of oil
every 750 - 1000 miles using 10W30. The auto parts store that ran the code
said that they don't have a part available and that I have to go see...

Is nobody mourning the loss of the L300? by
Dave
I read that the car is being discontinued at the end of this month? Tis
sad since the L300-1 seemed like a bargain fully equipped and will ALL
the safety items standard.
I don't even see anybody in this group even commenting on this. Was the
car that bad? Saturn said that it was a car with no...

Low Coolant dash indicator '99 SL2 by
David Allen
Every so often, the low coolant indicator flashes on the dash. Actually, 2
lamps flash simultaneously - the Low Coolant and Temp lamps. The owner's
manual warns of a low coolant condition and to fill the reservoir.
Ok, I check the reservoir and the coolant level is right where it should be
