1998 Explorer V8 Displaying code P1131 by Nate
Two weeks ago my Explorer displayed the code that bank 1 oxygen sensor was slow to respond (I forget the code #). I replaced the bank 1 sensor and disconnected the battery which reset the codes and forced the vehicle to relearn. Vehicle ran without throwing any code until I was entering a freeway...

2002 Explorer Sport Gauges acting crazy by [email protected]
I just recently bought a 2002 explorer sport with about 50K on it. Drove it for a week with no problems. First I noticed the gas gauge one day go way down below "E" and the check gauge light appeared. I kept an eye on it, and eventually it climbed back to half a tank. Im think, Ok, Maybe a bad...

rear panel applique by NCV-VT
2002 XLT. The rear panel applique is that piece of plastic body about 8" tall running the width of the liftgate and just underneath the rear window. They are notorious for cracking in cold weather and there is "silent" program on them. In February the dealer's shop got a new applique panel...

service engine soon light by NCV-VT
2002 Explorer XLT V-8. The light came on today at 65,970 miles and stayed on through three starts (only first one was a cold start). Gas cap is on ok. 50 miles into a fresh tank of gas from the place I always fill up. So what is really up? How much should I have to pay for a scan if one is...

Wheel bearings & differential by NCV-VT
2002 Explorer XLT with V-8, 61,000 one owner miles in 3 years miles and now I've got three bad wheel bearings (both rear and driver's side front). Seems awful quick to wear out. They are the newer "hub and bearing assembly" but expensive. Auto mechanic buddy says Ford OEM and replacement...

98' Mazda B4000 RWD 5spd HARD to shift into 1st from stop by [email protected]
No grinding just hard to get into gear with clutch all the way down. While at a stop, effort is less if you go from 2nd to 1st gear then let out the clutch. My syncros ? Trans oil and rear diff oil have recently been changed and there is no difference.

98 B4000 Heater Control Blows HOT on COLD position by [email protected]
Does not always happen..sometimes I can get COOL air on the COLD position other times it's HOT air all the time. Is the valve inside the engine bay on the passenger side ? Looks like a vacuum valve on the heater hoses.

98 Mazda B4000 5spd hesitation/engine balance UPDATE by [email protected]
Car starts fine and idles with a vibration / out of balance feel. When accelerating the truck feels as if one cylinder is not firing. I have seen this exact condition on a Maxima that had two bad ignition coils (one for each plug). However I do show spark on the ignition block for all plug...

Hi, My mechanic diagnosed a P1824 fault code "4 wheen drive electric relay circuit fault" and ordered a new relay. The porblem is it arrived at about 3:00 on Friday (today) and the shop manual the mechanic has doesn't have a location for the relay. Since I wanted to have a car this weekend I now...

2002 Transmission "Thunk" by [email protected]
Hi, I have a 2002 V6 XLT with 4WD. In the last week, it has exhibited a strange behavior. First thing in the morning, when cold (maybe low 50's/high 40's) when I start it and back out of the driveway there is a noticabel noise coming from (perhaps) the front fifferential, transfer case or...

Rear shock absorbers and self levelling suspension by Neill
The ride on my well serviced 1998 Explorer has become extremely harsh. The car has 60,000 and no known faults. The suspension light is not on. Has anyone the schematics for the self levelling and rear shock absorbers? Can anyone suggest a fault tracing strategy? Many thanks, Neill.

I hooked up a code reader to the 2002 explorer with a V6 and it gave me the above code. Does anyone know what the possible fix would be. Replacing the sensor? Cleaning the valve? Something else?

Abnormal Engine Vibration Explorer LTD 2004 V6 by [email protected]
Hello All - I've had this vehicle since June of last year. I've been very pleased with it so far. It's recently developed a strong engine vibration that occurs during idle (park, drive or neutral). If (while in park/neutral) I blip the throttle I get slow rpm response with a bit of a blurp (for...
