Warm carburetor idle problem by Yvan@office
I have low mileage (45000km) 1.6 liter carburetor (Pierburg 1B) engine in my 1987 e30 BMW. My problem: I start my engine. Cold or warm - no problem, starts OK. Rpm goes up to ~1500 and all is well. Then, as engine warms up, rpm goes down (and it goes down fast, the engine does not warmed up enough...

Mopar Follies (was: easiest engine) by Bret Ludwig
I have no beef against DaimlerChrysler, FoMoCo or General Motors. In my opinion all have made some beautiful things and some dog poop. However it's been brought to my attention that some consider Chrysler Corp. engineering without peer or flaw. All I can say is, bull****. Bad points with...

91 Topaz stalls at idle by jabba
91 Topaz, Problem started suddenly. Will start but you have to crank it a bit longer than usual. Will not idle but runs good if you keep a foot on the gas. Don't hear any obvious vacuum leak. Fuel injected. I can't smell but others have said exhaust has a strong smell whatever than means. The...

Used sedan recommendation? by 2000OdysseyLX
I am looking to replace my reliable 10-year-old sedan with a more recent model and am genuinely interested in recommendations people might have. For a while I'd considered a Passat, but I've read bad reviews of their reliability, and a friend with a 2003 Passat has had a lot of trouble with...

Opinion Poll: Which Engine is the Easiest to Repair? by [email protected]
I would like to have your opinions on this subject. The following criteria should be taken into consideration regarding your answer: o Only engines within the last 50 years o Give preference to engines that get good MPG (v8's do sometimes!) o Try to use some facts! And give examples to justify. o...

Case SC tractor magneto by [email protected]
I'm looking for some info for my uncle. He's looking for information on how to rebuild a magneto on a Case SC tractor. The year range is from 1940-1950 and it's 4 cylinder gas. That's all the info he has (right now) on the tractor, I don't know if more is needed or not. If anyone can help it...

Getting a fair insurance settlement after a car is totaled by Dan
My wife's 1999 Chevy Prizm was just totaled. Luckily, she was not injured. Car has about 55,000 miles on it and was in excellent condition mechanically & cosmetically. The one time I have had experience with this following my mother's totaling of her car, the insurance scum tried to give her a...

Hi My dizzy wife just put 11 litres of unleaded PETROL (gasoline to our Cousins in the US) in her DIESEL Chrysler 2.5CRD (2003 model) There was probably about a quarter tank of Diesel in it before she refuelled so 11 litres of unleaded petrol went on top of that, THEN she realised her error and...

Celica Drinking Oil (Is this even possible) by adam
I'm a young driver, I know some but not a lot about cars. I got a celica about 3 months ago. It has 150K miles ago, the owner said he had to add a quart every once in a while..and we believed him..apparently were idiots. The car drives perfectly, I am very happy with its performance but I have had...

Diag Trouble Codes - Changing Thresholds by [email protected]
I recently purchased Digimoto OBDII Vehicle Diagnostic Software. I have a 1999 Toyot 4-Runner. The Check Engine light has been on for a few weeks. Using Digimoto, I was able to find the cause (Catalytic Converter Flow Threshold Exceeded) and clear the DTC. I am certain that the Check Engine light...
