wlwallick
Took the car in for its regular servicing, yesterday.
It has a little over 40,000 miles on it.
Service manager comes in and says the upper ball joints need
replacing. UPPER!!!!
I have been driving for over 50 years in many different cars - most
getting to over 100,000 miles on them and never had...

Another electrical problem by
John Ahnen
This evening we went to a party for a friend in the 2000 Eddie Bauer
Explorer (68K miles). It's been starting and running fine, no problems
whatsoever. When we went to leave about 2 1/2 hours later, the battery was
nearly flat dead. There was nothing left on to drain the battery. I...

Another Radio question by
KCC
I have a 1998 Ford Explorer EB model, with a power antenna, and a 6 disc
CD changer. I replaced the radio/CD with a Sony model, and the power
antenna work fine with that, but not the CD changer. I also have a 1999
Ford Windstar and replaced the radio in that with a Pioneer model. The
Windstar has a...

anti-seize for spark plugs by
newman
Is it advisable to use anti-seize for spark plus?
I will soon be changing my 2000 V8 plugs (82K). If I use anti-seize on the
plug threads, will it prevent plugs from being 'welded' into block?
Thanks-this group is a real help to me!

Antifreeze Smell by
Jimmy the Hand
Howdy,
I've had this problem for quite awhile now and can't quite figure it
out. I always smell anti-freeze whenever I turn off the engine in my
1994 Explorer. When I open the hood, I find trace amounts on the A/C
hose that runs across the top of the engine compartment. I can never
find the...

Any input by Ford techs appreciated regarding 99 Eddie Bauer by

Is it possible to start a 99 Eddie Bauer without key?
Basically getting around the transponder system. One of my clients (I'm an
insurance guy) had a 99 Eddie Bauer stolen and subsequently recovered.
Carrier denied the claim saying that even though there was damage around

Any problems if I disconnect the electrical wiring to my control trac? by
Joe
My control trac 4wd on my 97 was acting up and by pulling #27 fuse to
disable the 4wd, the int lights/pwr windows were also disabled. So I
went ahead and just pulled the large plug that goes to the transfer
case, is this hurting anything if I do this indefinitely? My 4wd lights
blink, which I don't...

Anyone had luck with Ford Customer Service? by
Luchini
I have a 2002 Explorer with 58,000 miles on. I have begun to get the dreaded
rear end "whine" that seems to be all too common in this model year.
Apparently, according to the dealer, there is nothing wrong with the rear
end at this point. However they did diagnose a "rattle" in the torque
converter...

Anyone have leaks using Fram sure drain? by
Mikepier
I recently noticed on my 99 XLT that there is a slight leak coming from
the threads( where it goes into the oil pan). I loosened the plug
slightly and re-tightened it ( not much as I was afraid to strip the
threads) I will check again at the end of the day. But I was just
curious if anyone else had...

Anyone off road with these things?? Just a few questions... by
garzajd
I have a 91 explorer (4x4 of course). Have had it for about a year did
some minor work to it, installed aftermarket stereo, changed passenger
front window motor, driver rear window cable assembly -- which was all
the basic work it needed.
I finally got to take it off road (in stock condition)...

Anyone running a Borla Exhaust on their SOHC V6? by

I have the chance to purchase a discounted Borla cat back exhaust for
my 97 SOHC V6. Anyone have one, does it sound like a honda civic?
That's my only doubt about upgrading my exhaust...
( I wouldn't think twice if I had the 302)
If it will ultimately sound like a import I would rather have no...
