Heat/ac fan speed by
Superj
I have a 1999 Explorer Limited with automatic hvac. The fan sometimes
works but sometimes I need to put fan speed on max to get the fan to
run. I live in Florida so I don't use heat often but i believe it had
the same problem with heat. On occasion it works fine: Start engine, fan
comes on hi then...

Fast idle at start / rough idle warm by
[email protected]
I recently replaced the intake manifold gasket on my 91 Ford Explorer
Sport. I had to remove all of the vaccuum hoses and many of the sensor
connectors during this process.
Now that it is back together, it does the following:
1. Engine revs up to about 1500-2000 rpm immediately after start.
2....

best model year 1997-2000? by
David J Burns
I live in the Greater Toronto Area, looking at buying my first SUV.
After monitoring used car listings extensively over the last 6 weeks
I've decided that an Explorer, with an outside chance of a Pathfinder,
is my best bet give my $10,000 CAD limit. 4Runners, Xterras and CR-Vs
depreciate too...

fixing rust spots by
Charlie Bress
This is on a 92 XLT.
With 170k+ on the odometer I am not motivated to putting a lot of money into
fixing up the body but...
There is significant surface rusting showing up on the roof. This is at some
of the folds and creases that stiffen the roof or provide rain run-off
channels. Are any of the...

2002 seat problem by
Jonah
I recently traded my 96 XLT for a 2002 XLT, and in most respects it's a giant leap up in performance and quality. My
one big complaint is the front seats...THEY SUCK! Part of it is that they're leather, which I really don't like, but
the vehicle had all the other features I was looking for at a...

Lifter tapping on 5.0 liter V-8 by
DearDeva
was wondering if you all thought that having the engine flushed sounds like
a good idea to see if this will help fix the problem that I have with one
lifter tapping when the engine is cold?

REAR HATCH WON'T UNLOCK ON '98 XLT by
I'm_a_dreamer
The rear hatch door won't unlock with the remote or manually with the
key. Has anybody experienced this before ??
The dealer wants over $100 up front just to diagnose the problem, and
then who knows how much to fix it, while I pay for their learning curve.

Can anyone provide instuctions for programming the key fob for my 1997

I replaced the batteries in the key fob that hasn't worked for a while.

97 Explorer - changing seatbelt, headlight bulbs & keyless entry by
DearDeva
My driver's side seatbelt won't latch anymore, so I thought I'd swap it out
with one from the rear seats, that rarely are used. Am I getting into no
man's land here?
Also I want to install some of those hi-beam blue headlight bulbs. How do
I de-attach the bulbs from the headlights?
Anyone know...

Wheel bearings & differential by
NCV-VT
2002 Explorer XLT with V-8, 61,000 one owner miles in 3 years miles and now
I've got three bad wheel bearings (both rear and driver's side front).
Seems awful quick to wear out. They are the newer "hub and bearing assembly"
but expensive. Auto mechanic buddy says Ford OEM and replacement...

Aaaaargh! It's driving me crazy! ( '92 EB ) by
John Riggs
Hi, guys. well, after months of NOT giving me grief, I had to drive to
Omaha today, and lo and behold, 20 miles out of town that stupid CEL comes
back on again. The damnable light only comes on while I'm traveling on the
highway, but the only recognizable code seems to be for that stupid...

2001 Explorer Sport... trick to getting the rotors off? by
Pookie
I want to change the pads and rotors on a 2001 Explorer Sport, and I
had the calibers off. But to take off the arm the caliber is on, is a
real bear to break loose the bolts. Any suggustions? Liquid wrench,
turning the bolts in a counter clockwise direction, or just use a
cutting tourch?
