Manual transmission back lash by
No Email Address
This is on a 2000 V6 3.0 Ranger - a little off topic, but I figure I have been around this group for enough years to beg some forgiveness.
:o)
I just bought this for my boy - 2 wheel drive, about 61,000 miles.
Releasing gas pedal produces a real thunk from below - sounds like backlash (or...

97 Explorer Turn Signal Problem by
Ron
The windshield wipers on my 97 Explorer XLT would only work with the
stalk pushed to the high beam position, all the way forward (toward engine).
I took out the switch today and found a disconnected wire on a 4 point
connector with three wires connected to it. I soldered the wire back in
and...

Bizarro thing happened to the outside rearview mirror by
Herb Kauhry
Thwacked 'ears' with another vehicle and the glass+carriage popped right
out. Of course, it ripped one of the heater-element contacts off the
heater film, so the heater is no longer going to work.
On the plus side (and my reason for posting), is to say that the carriage
CAN be refitted into the...

02 Explorer Died and won't start...Security System? by
JMartin
I left my explorer running, ran into a gas station to get a soda. I
came out, put it in Reverse, then noticed that it had died. I tried to
restart (still in Reverse), remembered to put it back in park, turned
the key and it won't turn over. I get dash lights, but nothing else.
Mechanic says the...

Here we go again - CEL by
Ed
Another winter, another CEL. Everytime it gets cold outside my 2000
explorer stumbles and studers when started. After a minute of running the
engine idles smoothly.
Please don't tell me the IAC needs cleaned or the MAF sensor needs replaced.
Been there and done that with no improvement.
I've...

2003 EB Explorer by
limeybiker
We recently purchased a 2003 Eddie Bauer Explorer.
Whilst driving with speed control engaged, It felt as though the brakes were
being applied.
I also subscribe to an Expedition news group and the following TSB was
posted.
Does Ford pay for the TSB repair or do I have to stand it.???

Speedo rebuilt...now turning slower? by
Randy Pavatte
Recently I took my 96 Explorer to a shop because my odometer and trip
meter stopped running. The speedo gauge still worked fine, but
ultimately the problem was found to be in the speedo, and it was
rebuilt.
A few days ago I put the first new tank of gas in since getting the work
done. As of right...

Squeal in front of engine 1996 Ford Explorer AWD V-8 by
jonezzzman
My 1996 Ford Explorer AWD V-8, just started squealing/chirping (kind of
loud) in the front of the engine. Sounds like its coming from inside
the timing chain cover. It seems to get quieter when I rev the engine
or accelerate. I originally thought it was an idler pulley or the
water pump. I...

Hi,
I've just bought 2002 2-Wheel Explorer with about 25,000 miles, and
wanted to know about that periodic auto treatments that needs to be
done to the car.
Does anybody know what kind of treatments must be done for the car
maintenance, and how often should those treatments be held?
Thanx

Where is my 4x4 relay? by
Viewer
Hi,
2002 Explorer.
The fault code said I need a new 4x4 relay so I bought it, and now I
can't figure out where it goes. One helpful friend said under the
center console, close to the transfer case. So, before I start taking
it apart, does anyone know where it actually goes?
Thanks!

1994 Ford Explorer Alarm System by
[email protected]
Hey all. I have recently bought a 1994 Ford Explorer XLT Limited. The
previous owner didn't provide the owner's manual and knew nothing about
the existing alarm system. It appears that the alarm system is factory
installed and uses a remote which is programmed by, among other things,
shorting a...

Gas Leak by
Saycoda
I own a 1994 Explorer and I've noticed that when I fill the tank up, gas
leaks from what appears to be the middle of the vehicle. The first time I
noticed it, I thought the attendant had over done it in terms of filling it,
to get a round number $$, but since then I've done it myself and once...
