brakes throbbing - how to proceed? by
George[_23_]
'04 Cavalier. Considerable pulsing in the pedal when the brakes are
applied. The pulsing is speed-dependent - I think it's probably one
throb per wheel revolution. There's no significant shaking of the
steering wheel. Stopping seems unimpaired. There may be some
variability in the pulsing: it...

Seat position sensor for airbag, 2005 Scion tC by
Hachiroku $B%O%A%m%/(B[_2_]
So a few months ago (August or so) I replaced the stock Scion seat with a
seat from a Celica. Made the car a bit more comfortqable and easier to
drive. However, the Celica seat did not have a position sensor for the
airbag, so since then I have been driving with ther airbag light on.
Since...

stryped[_3_]
I am so frustrated. Have a 96 silverado. installing new compressor and
condensor and dryer. Pulled vacuum but vaccum goes to 0 in about 5
minutes. Where can I go from here? On another note, how can I tell the
proper size seal when replacing the seals on the lines?

GM upper control arm cross shaft serrated washer by
Lee K. Gleason
I'm rebuilding the front end on a 96 Impala. The upper control arm cross
shaft has a serration on the rear end of the shaft, that a serrated washer
fits on, then the bushing, which also has serrations in it.
Anyone know what the purpose of these serrations is? And, more
importantly, it is more...

87 Subaru losing coolant by
[email protected][_2_]
I have a stock, 2wd 87 Subaru wagon, manual, SPFI with 225k miles on
it; the blue bomber -- she just keeps running (though the valves are
getting clackety).
Lately though I've been having to put as much as a gallon of water in
even after short city drives. There is some white smoke coming out...

Automatic vs. Manual transmission by
SBH
It's been well known a manual transmission obtains better fuel mileage than
an automatic. My sister is preparing to purchase a Ford Fiesta and wants a
manual, mainly for the fuel savings. The sales guy indicated the new
transmissions (more so the 6 speed auto in the Fiesta) are better and more...

Help with BMW 525i (e39) valve cover gasket - poor fit by
John Baker[_2_]
While replacing the valve cover gasket on my 2003 BMW 525i, I noticed
the replacement gasket did not fit flush against the slot in the valve
cover. Both the main gasket and spark plug gaskets stood up about 1/4
inch above the edge of the valve cover. In other words, the vertical
gasket...

Any tricks for removing rear drums? by
Hachiroku $B%O%A%m%/(B[_2_]
1989 Mazda 626. Tried to get the rear drums off, they wouldn't budge! The
manual said to pull the rubber plug and insert a screwdriver to put the
spring retainer out of the way...there wasn't one.
Then I remembered when I did a brake inspection a few years ago the
retainer is on the OUTSIDE, but...

power, almost like car was going to stop with grey/white smoke coming
out of the tailpipe at the...
