Miata A/C by
Jerry
Hi all,
I recently had to take the '97 Miata in for an A/C charge. As it is
not my car, I took it to the local Mazda dealer. I was charged $160
for recharging and road testing.
I suspect that I was overcharged (in dollars, not refrigerant). How
much should that job have cost?
Thanks,

turbo engine pics by
pws
Here are a few engine pics from my latest car. There is quite a bit of
room to work in there since there is no A/C, power steering, cruise
control, etc. Even the windshield reservoir tank has been removed to
make room for aftermarket parts. My '96M had the reservoir relocated to
the lower driver...

Austin Ice Storm - Come watch the fun! by
pws[_1_]
This should be fun, we are expecting freezing rain tonight with 1 to 2
inches of ice, the worst winter weather prediction for this area in at
least 5 years, maybe over 10 years.
All they had to do was mention ice yesterday when it was raining and
people started smashing their cars into each...

New owner today! 4quick questions by
WendyC88
Bought a 2006 "Tourinng" with 10,000 miles, picked up today. Playing with it
in the driveway, came across a couple of things I hope you might be able to
answer.
1. The second key remote works intermittenlty. Do the batteries go dead
and can they be replaced easily?
2. The two rear speakers...

Possible/adviseable to replace plastic window with glass? by
my_two_cent
I have a '96 Miata with a tan top that is really in excellent
condition, but the plastic rear window is getting yellow and cloudy and
now it has a small tear in it.
Could I replace the plastic window with one of the newer glass windows
without replacing the entire top?

Increasing Aspect Ratio? by
Carbon
I have no problems with my 04 MSM's handling in any way, and I would not
like to screw it up in any way, but I do find the gearing to be awfully
short. I would like to decrease the effective gearing on the car by
changing the tires from 205/40/17 to 205/45/17. There's pretty decent
midrange torque...

HeadLights going up and down randomly by
Jazk
Hi,
Any ideas, the HeadLights of my Miata (-91) are going up and down randomly
when "Light Switch" is on, where should I look for a solution? Is it likely
that the lightswitch is broken?
When I press the "headlight switch" down, the headlights do stay up just
fine.

Radio Code by
KWS
I bought a used radio for a 2000 Mazda Protege. It will likely need a
code to unlock it once installed. There is a procedure that works for my
Miata radio (easily found on the internet), but I haven't found one for
the Protege radio.
Does anyone know where I can find the general code to unlock...

M1 fog/driving lights by

I have seen many references to fog/driving lights on he M1, and the
associated dash mounted switch.
I take it this was a dealer installed accessory...

equipped with these lights ?
I realize there are many possibilities with...

Spam: Ebaying a driver's side mirror from 1st gen Miata by

Hey all-
My MX5 was killed by an inconsiderate Chrysler 300 last year.
I was about to replace the drivers door mirror at the time (glass
fell out after losing the black trim strip). So, I have the glass left.
Item is over $80 to get the whole housing from Mazda (they do

Cockpit cover by
BCRandy
Well, after 4 years, I'm saying goodbye to my 2003 - the
lease is up next month. I'll miss her, but work requires 4
doors!
I have a pair of black visor plugs, a round satin black
shift knob, and a gray cockpit cover (used 10-12 times) that
I'll have no need for. I've modified the cover,...

Trickle charge ? by
RideRT
What is the best way to connect a trickle charger - like a Battery Tender -
to the Miata ?
I know the cigarette lighter is disconnected when the ignition is off, that
would have been ideal...
Looking for a professional and permanent connector I can use when my car is
hibernating.
Thanks.

New Tires by
Randy Maheux
I have an '03 that came with Bridgstone Touranza EA30s in 205/45-R16 size.
I have not been too impressed with them. Besides, at 18,000 miles, they are
already worn to the warning bars and I'm not a hard driver (I wonder if the
dealer put on used tires before I picked up the car)!
The car is a...
