Jeep Alternator / Charging System by cover
My son's 91 jeep Cherokee/Laredo broke down yesterday because of a lack of electricity. He mentioned on the phone when he called that the voltmeter on the dash was down around 9 volts. So after getting it home and charging the battery, I had him start it and then removed the negative cable while...

Trac-Loc clunking? by Clay B Carley
I recently picked up an '87 Jeep Grand Wagoneer, which is completley stock at the moment, with the tow package & lsd rear. It's getting new springs & shocks shortly :) Anyway, the LSD in the rear D44 is clunking from time to time. The Ring & Pinion are fine; they don't make any wierd noises,...

Why do small jeeps have such bad gas mileage? by wiseman
I was thinking of a suzuki sidekick. 22 mpg in the city seems bad. What type of engines do jeeps tend to have? Is a 4by4 that important or is chains more important. I do a lot of hiking and the trailhead can be on forest service roads. I do want good gas mileage in the city. My current car is a...

Steering linkage prob by Richard Cox
I have a 99 Ford F350 Super Duty 4x4 with a 7.3 psd that has a substantial lift on it (don't really know how high, how do you measure that btw?) and the steering wheel is almost 180 deg. off and the turning radius is messed up. If you turn to the left, it is very good, but if you turn to the...

In need of brake expertise... by tj
I recently purchased a '94 Jeep Wrangler. All seemed well until about 2 weeks ago. I started noticing some noise when braking. So I decided to replace all the pads and rotors. When I got to the left front I noticed that one of the pads had totally disentegrated and the rotor was shot. I decided to...

85 Blazer 2.8 to 5.0 conversion - posible? by mapacheguy
I have an 85 Blazer with a 2.8 V-6 in it. I live in a city with a lot of hills, so this setup isn't working for me right now. I've heard of Blazers with a 305 in them. I don't know much about cars, so I was wondering if a 305 would fit in there, if I'd need to change a bunch of stuff with my...

F-150 owners - Mileage without Engine repair in F-150 Ford Truck by zxcvar
Greetings! What sort of mileage you did before you have to do some repair in your F-150? My son has about 140,000 miles in his 4x2 Ford F-150 4x2 Extended cab truck's odometer in about 6 1/2 years without any thing performed in the engine. Will he need something to be performed to the engine of his...

clutch royally f-ed by James
I drive a 97 Pathfinder SE with 4by and manual tranny. Recently, the clutch pedal has stopped working. If the car is in gear, it is hard to get out of gear. If it is out of gear, it is nearly impossible to get into gear. It is as if the clutch pedal is not dis-engaging all the way (or at all...

50,000 Mile Computer Issue by Malok
I own a 1995 Suzuki Vitara. It was purchased in the USA but has been all over the world. A couple of days ago the car reached 50,000 miles. As soon as it reached that number the "engine check" light came on. I took it to a Suzuki dealer here in England, but they said that they could not calibrate...
