Remote starters by
Al Sproule
Hi all I have a 96 Eddie bauer that I would like to get a remote starter
put on. Any pros or cons to the after market starters and Fords of that
year?
Thanks
A; Sproule

Best way to change oil without flooding garage floor? by
Al Tsiemers
What is the best way to change oil without flooding the garage floor?
Removing the filter seems to be a minor mess, but removing the drain plug
results in a spray that bounces off the frame and makes a hell of a mess.
Any ideas on how to actually get it into the drain pan, short of leaving
the plug...

98EB A/C issue by
Al Williams
My 98 Explorer SOHC A/C stopped working late last summer and the dealer
indicated that the accumulator (drier) was seeping and had some rust issues
(blend door is OK). They recommended replacing it and the pressure cycling
switch but wanted over $500. I decided to wait till after winter and...

Blend door - what years affected? by
Al Williams
I found an article on the blend door issue
(http://www.mightyautoparts.com/pdf/articles/otl1200.pdf) that indicates the
issue is for Explorers built between 1995 and April 1998.
Can anyone confirm when Ford updated the problem and how to easily recognize
whether you have the upgraded part?
I have...

Side mirror knocked off by
Al Williams
1998 Explorer EB.
Someone whacked my passenger side power mirror and the mirror part popped
off. Everything still works and the mirror is OK but two of the push pins
that hold the mirror onto the mount broke. Anyone know if I can get
replacements without getting a hole new mirror?
I'll check...

Radio shuts itself off by
Al Williams
98 Explorer EB with high-end "Mach" radio (the one with the display issue)
with Tape/CD/CD changer and steering wheel controls.
Recently the radio has begun shutting itself off all by itself. I turn it
back on and it comes back but then shuts off a while later.
I don't think it's getting hot...

98 EB SOHC, AC problem by
Al Williams
My AC was not very cold so I took it to the dealer and they said the
accumulator and cycling switch were both rusted and probably causing a leak.
What would cause that - I though the AC system had lots of oil in it to
prevent rust? The same dealer fixed it last year by simply adding a lb...

Instrument panel BRAKE light on by
Al Williams[_2_]
98 Explorer SOHC 4x4 EB.
My instrument panel BRAKE warning light is staying on after starting (was
intermittent, but no more). I also noticed that my daytime running lamps
(CAN model) are no longer are on and don't think it's a coincidence.
Checked brake fluid - all OK there. Parking brake...

Instument lights.... should I bother? by
Alan
My '97 XLT has one or two blown instrument lights, on the right so I can't
see oil or battery gauges at night. The others are ok.
Anyone know how difficult it is to replace them?
Cheers.

Cabin air filter by
Alan E. Seelbach
I have a 2005 Ford Explorer, XLT, V-8, the question of cabin air filters
came up the other day...and I have never changed one in my life!? Do I even
have one?, and if so, where the heck is it? A REAL quick check of the
owners manual didn't help.
TIA,
Al in Poughkeepsie

Battery indicator question by
Alan E. Seelbach
Vehicle: 2005 Explorer, XLT, V-8, 9,000 miles.
Ever since I bought this vehicle about a year ago the battery indicator (in
the battery) has been giving me the craps. In the beginning it varied from
amber to green and now it is red (or orange?). I have no reason to question
the functionality...

Heartbreak by
Alan E. Seelbach
Picked up my new '05 Explorer XLT on Monday. Yesterday a lady ran into it
at 154 miles. ~$2,700 in damages. I know the autobody guy pretty well and
he will replace all damaged parts with new...so technically my new XLT will
be new again. I never in a million years would have figured that this...

Temperature control problem by
Alan E. Seelbach
Folks,
I own a 2005 Explorer XLT. It is a V-8, FWD, with 40K miles.
The problem I have is: when the temperature control knob is in the full
cold position, everything is fine. But as I turn the selector to warm and
then hot, I get a banging noise coming from the firewall (I think). I'm not...

Factory oil filters redux by
Alan E. Seelbach
Last week I posted how difficult it is to remove FACTORY installed oil
filters. Most post repliers, except for Jim Warman, didn't seem to
understand my post and tried to help me install a new filter (oil gasket,
hand tighten, etc.).
Well today I had to remove another FACTORY installed oil filter...

Factory oil filters by
Alan E. Seelbach
Got a question: I've purchased 4 new Explorers (2 in 2002, and 2 in 2005)
and each time getting the factory oil filter off has been a fight. I have a
oil ratchet(?) tool that fits the FL-820S perfectly, but slips on the
factory installed filters. The factory installed oil filters also have...

Need buffing info by
Alan E. Seelbach
I scratched up my 2005 Explorer riding thru the woods. These are MINOR
scratches that can be seen only if the light is right, but of course I can
see them in my dreams.
I know nothing about buffing. So I tried toothpaste...no significant
change. Then I graduated to Comet cleanser...and had some...

Radiator fluid leak by

Thanks in advance for any help I get on here.
On Tuesday I took my car in to get the oil changed and the dealership
suggested that I get my coolant flushed because it looked aweful. I said
sure, because I really didn't care, and now I am leaking fluid.
I coworker suggested that when they blew the...
