black smoke from a diesel. by

My astra 1.7 diesel Estate is giving out black smoke when I gun it in low
gear, am i having serious trouble or is it easily remedied. Its done
120.000 mls and apart from the smoke and using a little more fuel than it
should it runs like a dream.
any ideas anyone.

97 Jeep Trans problem by

I have a Grand Cherokee with an automatic it shifts just fine till all the
fluids get to running temp then you lose first gear when starting out from
a red light. But if you shut it off for 10 mim it works just fine till
everything heats up again.
Any ideas ????

If my clutch cycling switch is plugged in, and I turn on the A/C, it blows
the heater A/C fuse. I've tried to jump the plug, but it still blows the
fuse. I unplugged the coil, but it still blows. I've change the relay,
but it still blows. I've even changed the selector switch on the...

99 GMC Yukon Rear A/C problems by

Went to the dealer the other day to find out why my A/C wasn't
working...estimate is for $1700 (Canadian)+ taxes.
ouch.
Yukon was stored winters, but the lines are leaking and the fittings
going into the rear evap are leaking as well.
I got prices from the local GM dealer, parts are for 4 lines...

Purpose of Centrifugal Clutches for 4x4's ? by

Folks,
I am currenly on the search for a clutch for my 4runner ... Of course
centerforce is in the consideration.
I wonder if the centrifugal clutch makes much sense in a 4x4. As here
we need clutch grip at low rpm, whereas the centerforce will start
gripping really hard once the rpm go...

Guys,
I just installed a brandnew kevlar clutch in my 4runner. The clutch is
from southbend clutch and sports a 1600 lbs pressure plate.
Now that the clutch is in the first thing i notice is the clutch pedal
is soft as butter. pressing it in feels as light as the gas pedal.
the truck rols but...

Front diff, locker or limited slip? by

It depends what vehicle and what purpose...
A front locker makes steering pretty hard and can more or less be only
used when needed on rock climbs and mud ..
A slip is more driveable but will only give you some traction to the
other wheel ..
If going for the locker make sure your axles will hold...

Need help with clutch clamp load by

Guys,
I am looking for a new clutch for my 4Runner ... I sourced out some
nice heavy duty kevlar clutches.
problem is. They have a clamp load of 2000 lbs. But the 4Runner can
only take 1600 lbs ... I was told if you exceed that load it will kill
the slave cylinder and crank bearings...

I bought a bronco off this banker for a grand, it drove decent, leaked
oil. I took it by a garage and had the valve cvrs replaced. and now the
thing idles way high (2000rpm), I did the unhook the battery and start it
back to let the onboard re-learn itself but its not working...

Hi, 91 Chevy Blazer S-10
Starter needs replacement.
I have never seen such a pain in the a**.
Woa! I had to take off part of the undercarriage cross-member and I still
can't get the starter out. Do you have to pull the axle?
