Hachiroku $B%O%A%m%/(B
1997 Subaru AWD wagon, "L" model, basic car. Replaced coolant and
thermostat and ran car static for an hour at a time about 3 times. Would
initially overheat (when I replaced the coolant), cold air coming from the
heater, then heat started coming from the vents and the guage went down.
As I was...

Fuel Pump Timer? Pump Location? by
Nehmo
I successfully changed the fuel pump on my 2001 Ford Ranger 3.0L 126"
wheelbase, flex-fuel truck . But I have some unanswered questions,
and they'll plague me the rest of my life if they remain so.
Is there a fuel pump timer? How does it work, and where is it?
If indeed, the pump is cooled by...

1986 Toyota Van LE, Starting problems by
[email protected]
I just replaced the alternator, battery and starter, checked ground
connection solid, battery cable replaced a few years back. When the
ignition key is turned on, sometimes it starts ... sometimes it don't,
it just "clicks" and "clicks" (solenoid making contacts), but would
not crank the engine. ...

Mark A., again, your thinking is very old-fashioned when
it comes to comparing 0w-30 to 5w-30. As I said, you should
consider doing some current reading about the 2 viscocities.
Dr. A. E. Haas, a Florida physician and surgeon who has
researched fluid dynamics for decades, has written the...

are all engines the same? by
Jizzosh[_1_]
Alright, here's what I'm getting at: currently, the car I'm driving
before I get my liscense is an in-line 4 cylinder. Now, just say that
each cylinder has a displacement of .5 liters for each type of 4
cylinder(v, inline, boxer etc.), would they all have the same RPM? Or
does the crankshaft have...

Serpentine belt replacement with *newest design* belt? by
Lawrence Glickman
I went to pep boys today to buy a replacement serpentine belt for my
vulcan V6 182 cu inch, with air conditioning.
So what I end up with is a Dayco, lists for $56, got it for $35. Now,
the reason I am listing this post is because this is a cogged
serpentine belt. Looks like a cross between a...

Key--off current draw from 12SI alternator by
Ed Treijs[_2_]
I have a 78 amp 12SI alternator, out of a mid-80s Riviera, in my '78
Trans Am.
My new battery went completely dead in a week. A meter showed a
current draw of about 300mA with the key off. Removing the two-pin
connection from the alternator dropped the current draw to about 9mA.
This is a...

Did Buick make a 3.1L V6 for 2002 LeSabre? by
[email protected]
Good morning, We're searching for a first car for my daughter and stumbled on a 2002 LeSabre Ltd. with 50k miles. Surprisingly, for a teenager, she likes it, so I've looked for reviews, recalls, etc., and can only find them for a 3.8L for the LeSabre. Have I missed something? Might the seller...

Oil Pressure Gauge and Engine death by
CL (dnoyeB) Gilbert
Trying to get some lessons learned from my first car 'death.'
To make it short, the oil gauge started behaving curiously to me
probably last year this time. But since the oil light didnt come on,
and the pressure seemed high enough, nothing seemed wrong. This turned
out to be bad because the odd...

Request opinions on my sort-of-new Accord by
Otis
General questions which is why I included five NG's.
I've actually had the car for almost a year (bought 9-25-08).
The car had a mild steering wheel shimmy at 60-70 mph that
I noticed driving it home from the dealership the day I bought it.
The car had not been sitting on the lot long ( a week or...

I own a 2000 Pontiac Grand Am. I was wondering what is the best way to
maintain the brake fluid... should I drain the entire system and refill
and bleed it, or should I bleed each wheel individually? I'd like to

Any thoughts about the quality or safety of chinese cars? They were
shown at the auto show. (I wont buy a China car regardless of quality)
If China is considered to be an enemy why are we importing their cars?
Whats next Iran and N. Korean cars?

How to remove old oil pan gasket? by
[email protected]
I took the oil pan off my '84 VW Rabbit (diesel). Unfortunately, most
of the old (paper) gasket stuck to the bottom of the engine. How do I
remove it? It's practically superglued on. I've tried gasket remover, a
scraper, a razor blade, a wire wheel on a Dremel... the stuff clings to
my engine block...

So what's the most efficient way to mow the grass ?
First consider the engines. In general, an...
