('07 Cobalt, 60K miles) NOTE: CAR DOES NOT HAVE ABS OR TRACTION CONTROL. This is our first winter storm with this car. On slippery surfaces (slush/ice/whatnot), there is a significant rapid clanking/knocking sound, probably from the left front. No such sound are dry pavement. There is no...

detach steering gear from intermediate shaft? by [email protected]
'07 Cobalt, electric power steering. Steering rack is failing. To remove it, the pinion input shaft has to be disconnected from the universal joint that's at the end of the intermediate shaft. On this car, the u-joint has a sleeve that fits over the end of the pinion shaft, locked with a pinch...

Automatic Transmission question by Ivan Vegvary[_2_]
1995 Toyota Tercel 224,000 miles, 3 speed automatic. Twice now (5 months apart) the tranny up shifts quite late. I'm a conservative driver and I'm always in third gear by the time I get to the other side of the intersection from a standing start. That would be about 10-12 mph.. Two times now I...

Wheel Rims - Center Hole Important? by [email protected]
One example: Holden Commodore. All have 5x120 wheel studs. However, the later models are heavier, so new wheels are stronger. Holden made the centre bore smaller to stop people fitting older wheels, that might not be rated for the load.

Horn failure on 94 Saturn SL2 by [email protected]
The Haynes manual says to swap out the relay with a known good one to see if that is the problem. There is some very vague stuff about the wiring harness. I'm satisfied that it isn't the horn buttons themselves since there are 2 of them. I don't like to think about bad connections in the steering...
