••••••>Transmission Lidar by [email protected]
Lidar‘s high resolution and accuracy is used in the creation of many maps. It is thus used in the conjunction with aerial photography .In fact it is useful for mapping terrain models, including the topography. Many high resolution counter maps could be easily jotted down with the sensors of the...

[Q] 2.0L engine in 2002 Protege (323) by Body Roll
1. How much work it is time wise to replace the water pump in 2002 Protege (2.0 liter) when the timing belt is being replaced? 2. Is it an interference engine? Not sure if I want to pay another $900 for the belt/water pump change at 120k.

[NB 6 sp] - there is a reverse gear lockout by Me[_12_]
A few weeks ago I was convinced by posts here suggesting that there's no mechanism for reverse gear lock-out (when moving forwards) in the Aisin 6sp gearbox. IIRC there was a link to miata.net posts implying the same - that reverse gear lockout is a myth. I also checked the 6 speed box FSM, and...

Zombie attacks nationwide - Have you been warned? by pws[_1_]
I was driving home and almost ran into a group of zombies before I saw the road warning sign stating, "Caution! Zombies! Ahead!!!", and made an emergency U-turn back away from that specific area of undead infestation. Very lucky, I don't think that the vinyl top would have offered much...

Zipperless top???? by XS11E
How the heck do these things work with a glass window? I've got an almost new top on my 1992 with the zippered window and I really can't see how the no zipper type would allow the top to be lowered. Can someone explain it or do I need to go pester the dealer to show me one? BTW, as I said, my...

Zippering a 2004 top by blinding
When I'm running in the desert all day long across country, I often like to run with the top up and the back window down. You can't run topless all day or you turn crispy and I'm not usually a big fan of AC. How hard is it to add a zipper to a 2004 non-zipper top? JJ

You think the Miata is small... by Scott Streeter
Friend at work finally got his Lotus Elise. Man, this thing is sick in person. Very small. You gotta be pretty limber to get in and out of it too. Makes the Miata look like a practical car :) -- Scott Streeter http://www.wpi.edu/~ss/

Yokohama S-Drive vs. Toyo T1-R? by johnny p.
Hello group! I'm getting close to the end of my second set of 195-50-15 T1-Rs on the mighty LISPmobile (my '99), and I thought I'd have a look at some of the other summer tires that are out there. I live in Tampa so I don't care about cold-weather performance at all, but I do put a pretty...

Yokohama ES 100 tires by Randy Maheux
FWIW, I've had my Yokohama ES 100 tires (205-45/16) for a 10 days now and thought I'd report back. I haven't gone up in the mountains yet, but in spirited city driving that they seem at least as "sticky" as the Bridgestone Portenza's they replaced. They have also done well in our recent...

yes, it's a mileage thread by pws[_1_]
I was wondering what people are seeing as far as real-world MPG for the NC Miata (2006-2010), with a 5-speed. I am just curious about what is the best it is capable of on the highway with the top up as well as top down, and what it gets when driven with a heavy foot around town. Thanks, Pat

YES! FINALLY!!! by Don Bruder
Just caught a blurb on the local radio station. Washington State Troopers are launching a special traffic enforcement operation. Not the usual Ho-Hum crap of trying to screw people over for not buckling up, or a crackdown on speeders or drunks - Although I agree those are worthwhile efforts,...

Have you seen the Dodge Demon? The two worst things about it: 1. It's not a Miata 2. It is a Dodge http://www.roadandtrack.com/article.asp?section_id=15&article_id=4758
