TIME WALK by
blacklight[_2_]
We were camping in Australia’s Blue Mountains when the car went on
strike. To fill in time we decided to film Time. So we sat on a rock,
for 13 hours, and clicked a single frame 1872 times. Run as a film
strip it shows Time walking from sunrise into the night. Hope you
enjoy that clip at...

Snow/ice traction by
[email protected]
Looking for a used vehicle. Will a jeep cherokkee 4x4 go as good on
ice/snow as say a full size 4x4 pickup with a v8?
I have a two wheel drive old truck and could not even get out of my
driveway. Had to have my dad pull me out with his 4x4.

Suggestions on long lived 4x4 other than Toyota and Honda by
ToddAndMargo
Hi All,
It is time for me to get a new used 4wd car. I
like the Toyota Highlander and somewhat fond of the
Honda CRV.
Problem: the resale value on Toyota and Honda is
through the roof. I can not afford them.
Is there another 4wd manufacturer that is similarly

1987 Landcruiser FJ60 2F head removal by
Jabran
I am removing the head on my 87 FJ60 Landcruiser with 2F engine. I have a
few questions:
1. There was a bracket with a hook on it attached to the head through the
back left two head bolts. It made it difficult to get those head bolts out,
I had to use a swivel. I am assuming this is for...

"A statement on wheels: Hummer" by
Mike
A statement on wheels
The Hummer is a moving "Get Out of My Way" sign, a 16-foot-long
behemoth that its critics — and there are plenty — call
ostentatious and irresponsible. And who is behind that smoked glass,
under the sloped, angular roof that appears to be frowning at peasants
in...

North American Auto Show NO CROSS LANDER by
TOS
For years living in Detroit has been fun because I get to look at the
latest and the greatest, however I am very upset to see, at this date
No CROSS LANDER, which surprises this avid car person, it also
surprises me that other LOW BUDGET companies will be in attendance, I
personally feel CROSS...

Australia: 200 grams from the dawn of the Solar System by
blacklight[_2_]
A ‘Fireball Observatory’ was set up on Australia’s fascinating
Nullarbor Plain to track and retrieve meteorites. Now the first one
was caught, a witness from the beginning of the solar system.

Backup warning beeper accessory for cars by
Quiet Voice
Greetings:
Back in the late 90's, I purcahsed a backup warning beeper for my Ford
SUV. It screwed into the socket for the backup lightbulb. When the car
was put into reverse, it emitted a "beep" like trucks and
road-construction vehicles.
I'd like to get another, but I can't find one anywhere. I...

400 Engine Swap in Jeep by
[email protected]
Maybe some Jeep experts can help me.....
Could a 400 Chev. big block be placed in a Jeep (I don't have the Jeep
yet, so that might make it a little easier) without a tremendous
amount of cost? I realize this may be a little out of the usual engine
swap projects, but the engine is very cost...

MY BAD GEICO INSURANCE EXPERIENCE ! by
Nospam
I was looking for a cheaper rate on my insurance of 3 cars when I
decided to give geico a call , I couldn't believe it, I would save
over $ 225.00 every 6 months with them if I left my agent I had for 10
years with Allstate Insurance.
Well I decided maybe change was good, boy was that ever a...

Photos from my Jeep! by
Jeff Alu
I have a 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee which I've abused a bit (Currently
it has no front bumper, since I had to rip it off to get a tow after
being stuck in the mud in a "dry" lake for eight hours...) But my
Jeep has taken me to many of my favorite off-road locations in the
California desert for...

Winter tires vs offroad tires. by
Goldhawk
Hi, all.
I'm thinking about picking up an older (beater) 4x4 for winter driving
and I'm wondering about tires. What kind of tires would be better for
winter driving in a 4x4 -- specific winter tires or aggressive
offroads?
If there is a real difference between the two, where would I notice...

which to buy? CRV, RAV, Vitara, Forester, Santa Fe, etc. Need input. by
JJ
I am looking at 2004 vehicles in this price range. Previously I had a
Jeep Cherokee, which I quite liked. Although I did not use the 4WD
often, having the lever there was like a warm security blanket. I
liked being able to open the rear hatch door and pile all sorts of
sh1t in there.
I am...
