1999 UK Explorer - beeping ! by
[email protected]
Hi there,
I have just acquired a 1999 UK model Explorer and I have an annoying
problem. On start-up (and at apparently random times whilst driving) it
emits 5 bursts of 5 beeps (the same beep as when you open the door with
the key in the ignition).
At first I thought it was a frost warning as it...

Interchangeable Bumper Cover? by
[email protected]
Hey my the bumper cover for my '00 Sport is bashed in on one corner.
I thought about replacing it with the same part, but then decided i
liked the look of the '00 mountaineer bumper covers. Is it possible
to interchange the two? Will a '00 Mountaineer bumper cover fit on my
'00 Explorer...

2001 Explorer Sport Keyless Entry Code Location by
Russ and Cindy Irwin
I cannot find this default code anywhere. I have looked under the dash,
looked in the driver side rear jack storage compartment and under the hood.
I checked all over the internet and everyone says it is in the jack
compartment on a silver or black computer box. Not in my...

cleaning instrument panel by
oklaman
There is some dust and other matter that is behind the plastic (?) shield on
my instrument panel. This is the clear shield that is over the speedometer
and gauges.
Is there a way to remove this shield and clean behind it?
2000 Limited 2WD
V8, 80K miles
Thanks

Stop to engage 4x4? by
Dan Gillespie
I replaced the kaput automatic hubs on my 1994 with the manual lockers from
Warn. Easy job and about a thousand bucks cheaper than letting the dealer
put new autos in. Anyway, my question is whether I should stop when
engaging the 4x4 via the dash button or whether I can do it while the car...

Heated Seat Not Working by
Big Shoe
The heated driver's seat in my '05 Limited has quit heating
and the vehicle is out of warranty. The passenger seat still works.
Anyone know if these seats are both on the same fuse or breaker. Any
ideas on what to look for?

'98 door locks by
John B.
I have a problem with my '98 Explorer where the key won't unlock the door
easily. I always have to turn it back and forth several times before it
will catch and unlock. It seems to be worse in the winter. (Not frozen.)
Funny thing is, it's the same for both front doors and the rear one as...

ABS question by
JENNIFER SMITH
Not sure if this has been covered in the forum before or not, but I took my
1993 Explorer Sport in to the dealership I got it at (I know, big
mistake...) and they would not pass it for inspection because the ABS light
was on, and apparently one of the wires was missing going to one of the
front...

2004 Explorer ESP power window non-coverage by
mule
The rear left power window on my 2004 Explorer stopped working. Dealer
claims it needs some kind of shim to make it work (dealer says motor is
OK). Dealer says the Ford Extended Service Plan does not cover this!! I
can't find anything in the Extended Service Plan (best one that is
offered) that...

Pot Hole from Hell . . . by
NickD
I had the sweetest and smoothest riding '92 Exploder on the planet (4wd
XLT 4.0) and then two days ago I hit a major pot hole on the freeway
going about 65 mph. In an instant I was driving a different vehicle.
Now the steering wheel vibrates, and the suspension, and tires feel
like they are made...

1999 Ford Explorer Transmission will not hold back... by
jsandlin
I have a 1999 4WD Ford Explorer. 1st gear will not hold back at all. I
put it in first, and coast down a hill. Once i reach a certain
speed/rpm, it is like it is in neutral. I can rev the motor and
everything. I can put it in first while stopped, and start going, and
once i reach a certain rpm, it...

Advice wanted: buy my lease 2004 or '07 Explorer by
Reggie Dunbar
I thought I'd get some input on this tough decision I have.
I like my '04 Explorer XLT. It has only 38k miles, runs great and I can go
ahead and buy it for a good price.
I also like, much to my wife's dismay, new toys. I would love to get an '07
Explorer XLT or Bauer. Have there been really big...

BLown OD repair update - 92 4x4 with automatic by
Ashton Crusher
Got my 92 back from the tranny shop. Right at $1400 for the rebuild
with 2yr/24K warranty. Asked them to save the exciting parts for me
to look at.
The part that caused the failure was a VERY thin radial roller bearing
that appears to act as a thrust bearing for the OD planetary parts.
Once it...

94 XLT blown A/C fuse by
[email protected]
Hi,
I have a 94 Ford Explorer XLT with a blown A/C fuse under steering
column. The fuse blows again when changed. The A/C light does not
come on but my blower works. I don't believe that the compressor is
starting.
Does anyone know what the problem could be?
Thanks, Herb

Clutch issue - 92 by
Anthony Giorgianni[_1_]
Hello All
Just wondering if anyone has suggestions.
My 92 XLT (85,000) exhibited a clutch pedal -to the-floor problem last
night.
The clutch reservoir took a little fluid, but was mostly full - so it
doesn't seem like a leak somewhere, as often is indicated here and other
boards in response to...
