Offboard hybridization by AD[_2_]
A thought occurred to me last night: why do you need to bother with lugging a huge battery onboard when you could just flush the battery and the motor(s) into the floor of a purpose built trailers. This solves the the hard winter starts problem and awd (lack of it) problem for BRZ in winter by...

write your congress-critter - increased ethanol in gasoline by jim beam[_4_]
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100618/ap_on_bi_ge/us_epa_ethanol increasing ethanol content in gasoline is bull****. 1. ethanol is made from corn. burning food for fuel is wrong. period. 2. ethanol reduces mpg's. it has a lower calorie content, thus you need more volume for a given distance...

CEO: Toyota vehicles lacked passion, must be more exciting by john
"Inaba acknowledged that Toyota vehicles had often lacked "passion" and that the company's vehicles must be "more exciting, more nimble." "Toyota is a good car but not exciting. Those are the comments we usually (or) always get," Inaba said. Toyota's sales have fallen 38 percent in the first six...

Real easy to ruin engine thermostat? by geo pearl

Ford's "Easy Fuel" capless fuel filler? by CWLee
I just learned that the 2010 (and perhaps earlier) Ford Explorers, and other Ford models, have what Ford calls "Easy Fuel" capless fuel fillers. As near as I can tell, instead of unscrewing a cap, one inserts the gas pump nozzle into an opening which automatically moves aside for fueling, and...

Stripped threads in carburetor by Joe Dackman
I have a 1981 F-150 with 302 motor and automatic transmission. Bought it a few months ago from a guy whose condo association made him get rid of it. The fuel filter is the sort that screws into the carburetor. While replacing it I managed to damage the threads in the carburetor inlet. What I'm...

Brakes unable to stop runaway Lexus in California? by john
So slamming on the brakes enough to cause tires to catch fire still can't stop the car? That's scary! "In a 911 call, one of the passengers said the Lexus was speeding at 120 m.p.h., and witnesses said the car’s tires were on fire when it crashed – possibly from the driver slamming on the...
