How to remove CD's from broken auto CD changer? by
micky
I've convened this multi-disciplinary forum, becuase this is a
multi-faceted problem.
How to remove CD's from broken auto CD changer?
I have a 2000 Toyota Solara with a factory AM-FM-CD changer, all in the
dash, not the trunk.
It worked fine until about 2014, with 6 cd's in it, a full load,...

Air Bag Deploys At WrongTime. by
Vic Smith
Wife and son went shopping yesterday.
Took his '95 Bonneville. Car looks and drives like new.
They get in car after shopping.
He starts car, and they get ready to head home.
About 30 seconds after starting, car still in park, nobody around,
passenger air bag goes off.
Wife was bending over picking...

red antifreeze by
micky
I just bought a new used car and the antifreeze is red.
IIRC, that's a slightly more expensive kind of antifreeze, and I'd
like to use the same thing if I have to add any or when I change
coolant, which only gets half the coolant iirc. I don't want a
blend of red and green because it's not...

Trailblazer tie rod end removal problem by
George[_23_]
My brother's '05 TB tie rods failed inspection. The first came off the
knuckle, no problem. But, he can't get the rod thread to move in the
adjuster sleeve. (He did loosen the jam nut.) It's not very rusty -
the threads look pretty clean. We used moderate (propane) heat, and PB
Blaster. So...

1994 Cadillac SLS clicking sound by
genius
Hi All,
I have a 1994 Cadillac SLS with 32k miles. It has developed a horrible clicking sound when turning right only at any speed and sounded like it was coming from the right front wheel. The strange thing is the clicking doesn't seem to go faster at higher speed or slower at slower speed. I...

Bye Bye '97 Lumina 3.1 by
Vic Smith
Last year new tires, LIM gaskets, alternator and gas tank. Maybe
7-800 bucks. Mostly tires, +400
Last month new coil packs and spark module. About $200.
Last week new plugs, ignition wires, battery and TPS. About $235.
By far the most expensive 2 years in the 8 years we had it.
Always ran...

Windows BMW dealer software cable for programming Bimmers by
Calia
Just bought my first BMW, a 2002 525i with 130K miles on it,
so I downloaded the dealer software (INPA) for changing settings
such as the automatic locking at 5mph (which I want to turn OFF!).
Since I have a Windows 7 machine with USB (but not serial ports),
all I need now is the $20 cable to go...

Reducing Power Steering Pump PSI on Modern Car by
[email protected]
Car less than 10 years old, conventional hydraulic
PSP(Power Steering Pump). I do not think it is
variable PS.
I'm a twitchy driver, and would like to reduce the
amount of PS assist, hence increasing the
amount of steering effort I need to exert before
inadvertently veering into an adjacent lane...

Speed trap detection devices by
hls
Lately the number of speed traps seems to be at a record level. I blundered
into one of these last Saturday night where the limit posting was not
obvious nor easy to find even after I went back and looked.
I normally drive very carefully and do not exceed the posted speed limits.
I think it is...

Fuel Pump Timer? Pump Location? by
Nehmo
I successfully changed the fuel pump on my 2001 Ford Ranger 3.0L 126"
wheelbase, flex-fuel truck . But I have some unanswered questions,
and they'll plague me the rest of my life if they remain so.
Is there a fuel pump timer? How does it work, and where is it?
If indeed, the pump is cooled by...

Celica seat 'experiment'... by
Hachiroku $B%O%A%m%/(B[_3_]
Interesting. The seat is an inch and a half to two inches lower than the
stock Scion seat, and you sit IN it rather than ON it. The seat cushion
extends further out, which I like.
However, I was onlyt able to locate two of the mounting bolts, and since I
put it in at dusk I didn't check the airbag...

Anyway to do an engine without removing the head? by
Hachiroku $B%O%A%m%/(B[_3_]
I have a bit of a dilemna
I need to replace my head gasket, but the bottom end probably needs a good
looking into also. I have a genuine Toyota HG, but have not pulled the
head yet. So, if I replace the gasket now, and then next year want to do
the crank bearings, etc can the motor just be pulled...

problems with car in storage for decades? by
Orson Cart
I found a limited-edition muscle car that has been sitting
in a garage since 1984, when the owner died. Don't worry, nobody is
swindling some old widow - she knows the cars is worth 6 figures.
Obviously the rubber bits will need replacing. I think most parts for
this car are available (apart from...

Dirty power steering fluid: This a scam? by
[email protected]
When I take my car to local tire and car repair shop to
have the oil changed, they always check my power
steering fluid and come back with a "sample" of it in a
special device that sucks up my fluid in one side and
compares it to CLEAN power steering fluid in another
side.
I always tell them NOT...

Rotary Engines *VS* Turbines by
2.7182818284590...
Both of these engines combust fuel and a non-reciprocal motion
occures. Both cases produces a circular motion.
However both of these engines are quite different. What explains the
differences in power output and efficiencies?
They are different in the following ways:
1. The turbines are very...

Engine type & Fuel Economy by
Tom Varco
First off, I know nothing about cars, so there is probably something I
just "don't get."
Fueleconomy.gov states that above 60 MPH, fuel economy drops
drastically. Does this depend on the engine type? For example, in my
car (94 Buick Regal, V6 3.8), when I compare Engine RPM at 55, 60, and
65...

stereo loses settings when startup by

Help! Got a '55 Studebaker. Aftermkt. mp3/cd/amfm radio. If I set
stations, it remembers fine going from on to off to access to off. But!
When I start i, the starter seems to drop the "voltage threshold"(at least
that's what I visualize) such that all memory settings are lost.
Ideas, please? ...

Diesel question by
Charles
On an older diesel like my '85 GM 6.2L, what exactly happens when you press
down on the accelerator pedal? I understand that it controls fuel in some
way, but how? As I understand it, the injector pump controls the specific
charge of fuel to each cylinder for each firing. If this is changed...
