Cost to Replace Ball Joints 1997 Toyota Previa by
Will
I have a 1997 Toyota Previa with about 80K miles on it, driven about 10K
miles per year, and maintained on regular Toyota maintenance. During
today's change of oil and filters, the tech said there is a problem with the
ball joints under the vehicle and they need to be replaced. I also need...

Trans flush... placebo or worthwhile? by
Nate Nagel[_2_]
I just had a service done on my company car and I went ahead and paid
out of pocket to have the trans flushed, because its use definitely
qualifies as "severe service." I swear that shift quality has improved
noticeably. Or is my brain playing tricks on me? '08 Impala, 35K miles.
My theory...

Roll Over Risk: Consumer Reports warns against 2010 Lexus GX460 by

Kinda makes you wonder what kind of junk they're building these days.
"Consumer Reports, the widely respected arbiter of quality and
reliability, urged customers not to buy the 2010 Lexus GX460 because
it may roll over in certain situations based on tests by the
magazine's automotive test...

Interesting solution to an alignment problem by
Hachiroku $B%O%A%m%/(B[_2_]
1989 Mazda 626. I replaced the lower control arm on the pass side in
December, and while it resolved the ball joint issue, the steering wheel
was cocked to the passenger's side and pulling to the right.
My computer decided to blow it's brains out last night, and I was up until
3:30AM putting the...

Sound like a fuel pump? by
muzician21
89 Toyota Cressida. Over the last month or so I've experienced an
intermittent crank/no start that lasted a minute or so, then the car
fired up with a bit of a sputter, would start and run like a clock
until the next time maybe a week or two later. Tonight had to have it
towed in, simply wouldn't...

Almost on-topic: Anyone using a Bluetooth Speakerphone? by
Hachiroku $B%O%A%m%/(B[_2_]
I bought a bluetooth hands-free on eBay for $14. You get what you pay for.
The one good thing was it has a headphone jack, so I connected a Rad Shack
amplified CB speaker for more ooomph, but the speaker is awkward. It is
somewhat audible now. Part of the problem might be my old Palm Treo 650,
not...

Where to buy cheap sockets and adaptors? by
[email protected][_2_]
Hi - Does anybody know where I can find cheap sockets (especially
adaptors). I need (for example) an adaptor that allows me to put 1/4
drive sockets on my impact screwdriver (hex drive). I want a bunch of
them as I keep losing them. I don't care about quality as they will
be lost before they...

Question about wheels and offsets by
Hachiroku $B%O%A%m%/(B
Back to another Subaru I have. The wheels rub against the calipers in the
front. Hey, they fit, they're the right diameter, what gives?!
They're also rusty, so I am trying to replace them. In the course of
looking for used wheels for an '89 Suby GL hacthback (NOT the Brat-looking
hatch, the Loyale...

13-1/2 to 1 compression ...on the street? by
M.Burns
Looking at a nice Pro Street car with 13.5 to 1 compression pistons. It
apparently has been at some statewide cruises, rod runs, etc, so I know it's
been driven. My question is, what kind of fuel must the owner be running for
the engine to survive. Heard claim that by retarding the timing...

No grease on lug nuts by
Don Phillipson
A garage mech told me today never to grease
the threads of wheell lug nuts, because it makes
it easier for them to back off i.e. become loose.
Opinions?

decent wide whitewall sought for 1992 Cadillac Brougham d'Elegance by
The Derfer[_2_]
First of all: NOT COKER. Their tire for P225/75R15 is only rated 540-
BB, and a "B" traction
rating means I'll slip and slide this classic American car, a 1992
Cadillac Brougham d'Elegance,
all over the place, especially when I move to the extraordinarily wet
Southern Florida circa

locking gas cap: opinions? by
Tom[_36_]
as the nightmare scenario, the tank needs gas because I can't get the locking
cap off - from lost key, or ice, or some malfunction.
also, where is best to keep the extra key? at home, in wallet, in glovebox?
on the plus side are preventing gas theft and preventing vandalism like sugar
in the tank
