Offboard hybridization by
AD[_2_]
A thought occurred to me last night: why do you need to bother with
lugging a huge battery onboard
when you could just flush the battery and the motor(s) into the floor
of a purpose built trailers.
This solves the the hard winter starts problem and awd (lack of it)
problem for BRZ in winter

Howes: Toyota not looking so shiny now
DANIEL HOWES
Is the Toyota Motor Corp. juggernaut losing its conqueror-of-the-world
mojo?
Because if it was a Detroit automaker that was recalling 4.26 million
vehicles to repair accelerator problems, or if it was a Detroit
automaker that...

write your congress-critter - increased ethanol in gasoline by
jim beam[_4_]
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100618/ap_on_bi_ge/us_epa_ethanol
increasing ethanol content in gasoline is bull****.
1. ethanol is made from corn. burning food for fuel is wrong. period.
2. ethanol reduces mpg's. it has a lower calorie content, thus you need
more volume for a given distance...

CEO: Toyota vehicles lacked passion, must be more exciting by
john
"Inaba acknowledged that Toyota vehicles had often lacked "passion"
and that the company's vehicles must be "more exciting, more nimble."
"Toyota is a good car but not exciting. Those are the comments we
usually (or) always get," Inaba said.
Toyota's sales have fallen 38 percent in the first six...

Real easy to ruin engine thermostat? by
geo pearl
I have a v-6 mitsubishi that burst a hose.
It was brought home and was smoking hot.
After forty minutes of trying,
I can't get any water into the block. All
the engine wants to do is get hot.
Do thermostats get ruined after being subjected
to high heat--no coolant situations?

Correct Tire Pressure ? by
Robert11[_2_]
Hello,
Have a 2009 Buick LaCrosse.
Tires on it are Nokian WRG2 225/60R16 98H
Folks at the dealership checked tire pressures during an oil change,
and have now
made them all 35 psi (when cold).
Have to admit that the car seems to handle a bit better with the

Ford's "Easy Fuel" capless fuel filler? by
CWLee
I just learned that the 2010 (and perhaps earlier) Ford
Explorers, and other Ford models, have what Ford calls
"Easy Fuel" capless fuel fillers. As near as I can
tell, instead of unscrewing a cap, one inserts the gas
pump nozzle into an opening which automatically moves
aside for fueling, and...

Stripped threads in carburetor by
Joe Dackman
I have a 1981 F-150 with 302 motor and automatic transmission. Bought it a
few months ago from a guy whose condo association made him get rid of it.
The fuel filter is the sort that screws into the carburetor. While
replacing it I managed to damage the threads in the carburetor inlet.
What I'm...

Brakes unable to stop runaway Lexus in California? by

So slamming on the brakes enough to cause tires to catch fire still
can't stop the car? That's scary!

What is the purpose of car tachometer by
Jayprakash
I want to decide whether to buy a car with tachometer. What is purpose
of tachometer? How will I be able to use it?
I know that tachometer is used to show engine rpm and that one should
not drive in "red rpms". I want to know more than this.
Will tachometer help me improve fuel efficiency?

Adjusting Ford Transmission - FMX by
bob
My 1970 Cougar has a FMX automatic tranny and it shifts late (at partial
throttle, engine revs up and it doesn't shift until it almost quits
accelerating and then hits pretty hard. Is there a way to adjust? Does
vacuum control this?
Thanks,
