Pesky radiator leak...can't decide what to do by
[email protected]
I've got a '90 Mazda Protege (173K miles) and it's still in
amazingly good condition, and runs like it did when one-
day old. It's been very well maintained all these years,
which is why I still have it. Here's the deal: I put in a
new after-market radiator last July; last month I noticed
a...

Steering Wheel Shimmy 55-75 by
[email protected]
Okay so i'm beginning to notice some shimmy in my 00 Pontiac Grand Am
and i'm running out of ideas as to what it may be...
I figured it was out of balance first since I just had new Avon Tech
M550's put on. Took it back in and they rebalanced. Problem still
existed. Tried rotating tires to see if...

Worst retailers or brands: by
J J
What retailers or brands etc have been so bad that you would never use
them again?
For me it would be:
Firestone tires.
Maco auto paint
Sams Wholesale tires
Bought a new Buick. 3 of 4 Firestone radials blew out at highway
speeds.

help-need someone smart to tell me about water in gas tank... by
Sean[_3_]
I'm assuming I have water in my gas tank. on the top of the tank
there's a small hole, and last night there was alot of rain and I drove
through some pretty big puddles. I didn't have problems last night for
a good while after I drove through the puddles, but I'm assuming that
it took a while for...

Getting fuel line compression fittings leak free by
Ed
The FI return line attaches to the fuel tank with a 5/16" compression
fitting that I
can't get a good seal on. I even replaced the tube section and of
course used a
new compression sleeve. I've tightened it quite a bit, but it still
weeps. It so little that
it probably wouldn't matter if it were...

About jumping car - Connection Negative by
klabu
About jumping car -
When attaching NEGATIVE to the target car - what is the difference btwn
attaching to battery negative pole and attaching to the metal part of the
car ?
Why "attaching to the metal part of the car" is the "default instruction"
than otherwise ?
Thanks

Does this exhaust look like water in the cylinders? by
Doc
This is a short 5-sec .wmv video at the exhaust pipe. Warm engine at
idle, mid-high 80's outside.
I've been losing water and don't see where it's going. Wondering if
I've got a head gasket issue. The engine was just rebuilt a couple of
years ago, dangit.
Thanks for all input.

Overheating - Fiero GT by
Nightcheck
Hi -
I have a beautiful 1987 Fiero GT (original owner) which (knock on
wood) has rarely given me problems - but I a stumped now (probably
because I know next to nothing about auto repairs).
The problem is overheating as follows:
1) I fill the place (where the thermostat is housed - on the...

Does speed-shifting blow up engines? (Little problem) by
frank wight
I took my dad's old dump truck out into the field and managed to get
the
rear wheels spinning at 70 mph-- while standing still.
Trouble is, the rear tires got traction and the whole truck got
airborne---
leaping and jumping across the meadow. It really was a handful, trying
to regain control.

Noisy swaybar bushings. by
Richard
1994 Sentra. Rear sway bar has stock rubber bushings, which are
producing a very annoying and loud squeak noise on sharp bumps (like
backing out of the driveway, speed bumps, potholes, etc). I have
removed the bushing from one side to diagnose the source of the sound,
the bushing is in good...

lug bolt issue by

Admittedly I have no car expertise, but I can do some things like change

So, I have a Nissan Quest Minivan. I have had it for years with only minor
problems here and there. Several monthe ago I felt the wheel wobbling a
little bit. It felt like the tire was about...

Oil Pressure Gauge and Engine death by
CL (dnoyeB) Gilbert
Trying to get some lessons learned from my first car 'death.'
To make it short, the oil gauge started behaving curiously to me
probably last year this time. But since the oil light didnt come on,
and the pressure seemed high enough, nothing seemed wrong. This turned
out to be bad because the odd...

2 snow tires on FWD car go on front or back? by
peter
If I replace only two tires of a FWD car with snow tires, should they go in
front or back? The other tires are all season tires.
I used to think they should go in front, because braking, steering, and
acceleration all use the front wheels. However, a friend went to a tire
store and they put the...

"new" engine doesn't start right? by
Eric B.
Had a 1995 Mits. Galant 5-speed with 133K miles on it. A 2-year-old
balancer belt slipped somehow, got underneath the timing belt, and the
interference engine was trashed (valves bent, pistons damaged). A local
garage with a good reputation found a used engine with 66K miles on it.
They installed...

Which cylinder is oil-fouled? by
Spud Demon
I always check my oil at gas stations because that's the flattest place.
Well, a few weeks ago I checked and put in a quart. Only after the engine
started running rough did I notice that particular gas station wasn't flat
at all but on a hill, and I had overfilled the oil.
Now I've changed the...
