operation of idle air control?? by
[email protected]
I am curious how the idle air control is calibrated.
Does it fully close when the engine is stopped, so the the ECU has a known
reference to open a certain amount?
I just replaced one (on a GM 3800) and it took 30 seconds to start.
I presume the new item was not in correct position, so the ECU...

Local Tire Store 'Problems' With Road Force Balancer by
[email protected]
Yesterday I bumped into a sales rep from my local Town Fair.
Naturally the subject of road force balancing surfaced:
http://www.motorweek.org/features/goss_garage/road_force_balancing
He said to me "Road force was causing too many problems for us"
and they went back to conventional balancers.

New Battery And State Inspection Question, Please by
Bob[_53_]
Hello,
Had a new battery installed yesterday.
Today, I went for a state inspection sticker, and they told me that
they couldn't do the inspection due to the new battery.
Apparently, all the self-checks, etc. that the car does is not operable
when a new battery is installed. Said it "takes a few...

clearing RABS codes, '93 Ford Ranger by
N8N
Hi all,
Friend of mine has a '93 Ford Ranger that he'd given to his dad to drive, it came back with a laundry list of issues to be fixed, and I've been picking away at them. So far the only ones I haven't addressed are the loud and leaky PS pump, the horrible NVH from the ancient tires, and...

A.C. temps by
Andy K
With an outside temp of 88 degrees F and my fan on recirculation,
the temp coming out of my A.C. vents is around 49 degrees.
Is that a good temp ?
The A.C. in my CX-7 struggles in keeping a comfortable temp when outside temp is over 90 degrees.
Thanks,
Andy

91 cavalier htr/ac short by

Ok, so the blower motor quit working in all speeds. Checked fuse panel and found the fuse was blown. I cringed a little and said a quick prayer before putting in a new fuse. As expected it popped immediatly. I know there is a short somewhere. Anyone else seen this, I dont want to start checking...

Sunshade Color by
J.B. Wood[_2_]
Hello, all. I've had one of those inexpensive (foil on cardboard)
windshield sunshades for quite some time and I've never understood why
one side is silver while the other side is blue. I've always placed the
silver side facing the sun figuring it was the most reflective. Does
the blue side...

Brake advice on a 1996 chevy Silverado 4x4 by
stryped[_3_]
I have a brake question. I have a 1996 chevy Silverado. I have had it
for about 4-5 years. I bought it from my dad. It has 315,000 miles on
it. It has always had a soft spongy pedal. Brakes seem to work, but
like I said the pedal sinks when holding it.
This weekend was a nightmare. I replaced one...

Little Deuce Coupe by

I always thought they sung "big slip daddy" referring to the differential.
But looked up lyrics and it is "pink slip" so they raced for registration
papers of other car.
Funny how mis-heard lyrics fits better...
