Timing belt replacement question by Victor Faraday
I still have a 1990 Mazda Protege knock-around-town car. It has 178K+ on the odometer and is an amazing little machine (very reliable and solid). I've always done nearly all of the service work on it, and enjoy doing it, but replacing the TB is something I've always taken it into a shop for. I...

2001 Silverado OBD codes? by zxcvbob
Is there a way to read the diagnostic codes on a 2001 Chevy Pickup without an OBD-II reader? Several previous vehicles would blink the codes to you if you turned the key on/off/on/off/on/off rapidly, or pushed the right combination of radio buttons, etc. My truck (34000 miles) has been hard to...

1995 Nissan Hardbody engine trouble by [email protected]
It's been doing this for about 7,000 to 10,000 miles now, but this is the worst it has been. My truck is a 1995 Nissan Hardbody with a 2.4L, 4-cylnder, manual transmission. (Just incase that helps.) What it's doing: In neutral and only in neutral the engine stops, uhh, working. The engine stalls....

Bad engine mounts, but who cares? by [email protected]
Just got a '96 toyota Camry from my father in law, 150K miles. Great shape otherwise, but it shakes like ten epileptics when idling in drive. Mechanic recommends replacing motor mounts, about $700 to replace two of the three. My father in law recommends just ignoring the shaking, or putting it in...

Water dripping after using the A/C is normal? by George Lin, editor in chief of Intellibridge
I drive a 2004 Nissan Sentra. After a 20-mile drive on the highway during which I used the a/c, when I parked in the garage, I discovered a leak of something like water -- a clear fluid from a drip in the undercarriage. the drip came from the underside of the car between the driver seat and...

chevy: fuel tank, removing fill limiter valve - how much force? by George[_1_]
'99 Cavalier. I got the tank out. To extract the limiter valve assembly, the book calls for a J43288, and I seem to have misplaced mine. It doesn't come free when I turn it by hand. The body is kind of soft plastic. Can I use (large) pliers on this, or can I tap one of the tabs with...
