215/40-R16 Yokohama S.Drive tires by Alan Baker
on 16x7 or 16x8 rims. The tires are 19 lbs., and I'm looking for rims that weigh less than 15 lbs--preferably less than 14. Why the S.Drives? They seem very well regarded as all-around performance tires, but are rated particularly well in wet traction... ....and I do live in Vancouver.

Solstice is huge by Scott Streeter[_4_]
I have not seen one of these up close until today when one was in the work parking lot. It's huge compared to my NB. The 18" wheels didn't help either. It's a good looking car in itself but I thought this was suppost to be a Miata competitor...? Top sucks too. :P --

Perhaps I should buy a Miata? by [email protected]
i'm sure pretty much every answer i get here will be *slightly* biased since this is a miata usenet group, but here we go... my '91 Honda CRX probably threw a rod about a week ago and i've been scrambling for cash to either repair or replace it. i haven't actually been able to talk to him just yet...

Visited yesterday! by XS11E[_3_]
I visited my 1992 Miata yesterday at the shop, it's original paint is almost completely removed and most of the prep work is done so it can be painted today. They didn't plan to strip the car but when they tried to sand it, huge chunks of paint flaked off revealing no primer beneath (typical...

Off Topic question by Don Q[_2_]
Warning: Off Topic! This group has been dormant for a while. Here is a bit of an armchair challenge for all you car enthusiasts: A friend of mine got a new job, driving to various company facilities for inspection and problem solving as required. The job means a lot of time on the road (which...

Miata Front License Plate holder by Bitu
I personally believeall this crap is a matter of collecting more revenue. Police officer operated speed traps are being replaced by speed light cameras and red light cameras at an alarming rate. If is as advertised this product called PHOTO BLOCKER SPRAY is our salvation. They claim that it was...

I'm OFF! by XS11E
No, I haven't lost it yet (although my exwife will argue that) I mean I'm leaving. The Miata and I are off to California tomorrow AM to see my sister. Her birthday is March 17th and she's going to be 18 (again, she's been 18 several times before!). The Miata is loaded with 1. Her new (I just...

Question for the group... by XS11E
The Miata replaced the BMW R100RT because I'm not able to ride anymore and can't walk very far due to arthritis in my lower back, knees, hips, etc.. Because of that, I've got one of those pretty blue handicap tags to hang on my rear view mirror when I park in a handicap space. FWIW, Arizona will...

I've been VIOLATED! by XS11E
My Miata got broken into yesterday, someone got into the passenger side by removing the tonneau cover. They unzipped the zippers but ripped the snap studs out of the dashboard, cracking it where the studs screw in. They opened the glove box and didn't take anything, they opened the center...

Thinking about a hardtop. by Dave Smith
I'm thinking about getting a hardtop for my '97 and I'm interested in hearing from those who have them. How's the interior noise at speed compared to with a softtop? How much hassle removing/replacing it? Are they fragile? Heavy? Any change in the car's handling due to aerodynamics, rigidity,...

New battery. by XS11E[_3_]
I've reached the point in the life span of my battery when 1. The car will crank enthusiastically and fire right up if driven daily, 2. It cranks a bit slowly and hesitates, may take a couple of trys to get it to fire if the car sits for a day 3. It's marginal, maybe a 50/50 chance it'll...

Check Engine Light Came On by [email protected]
I have a 1999 Mazda Miata. The check engine light came on and stays on. It's been a year and 8 months since the oil was changed. Would that cause the check engine light to come on? Patricia Macon, GA
