WHATS A " SUMP " FOR ? by
Please excuse my ignorance but what is the purpose of a sump in an aquarium ? You know that tank bellow the tank. Is it to facilitate attachment of multiple devices like protein skimmers UV sterilizers and calcium reactors Ect. , or what ? Thanks. Robert G Smith

water change % of what? by
So it is suggested to do a water change of about 20-25% every few weeks (3-4 weeks). Is this 25% of the tank? or 25% of water in the tank after evaporation? So I have a 50 gallon tank, is that a water change of 12.5 gallons? Or from the 40 gallons (after 10 gallons have evaporated) a 20% water...

Sump design... by
I want to add a sump to my 48G Bowfront for the two primary reasons listed below. I do not plan to make this a refugum at this time (like the Marc Levinson has ones on melevsreef.com). I will place the heater, skimmer, H.O.T. wet/dry filter and canister filter in this sump. The Sump will...

Top Posting Is Easyer To Read. by
"Moreover, people who prefer top posting tend to be "lazy" and just include the entire previous thread appended to the end of their message. " Nope, Most folks who top post do it properly, including the entire thread is a waste of time This is a very old argument. I guess a lot of it depends on...

well, tank is for sale, whine, cry, whine by
A few months back several of you replied to a post I made asking for skimmer recommendations, and the majority recommended ASM, Aqua C, or Euro Reef. All these appear to be in-sump designs. Because I bought a wet-dry system (which will now only be used as a sump) when I bought the tank, I don't...

DIY ballast question by
Are there any ballasts at any of the chain hardware stores that will work with PC lighting? I have seen old posts about 'Advance' ballasts, but have not found any. I'd like to run 2 55 or 65 watt PC. Thanks, Mark **********End Of Post*************

Are we the last of a dying breed? by
I'll be the first one to admit that since getting back into the hobby I've spent more time on RC than any place else. It really is sad to see this usenet group dying since I spent many years here in the past and had met soo many great people and their knowledge was invaluable. I guess the world...
