Hurt Betta and Goldfish , Help !!! by Cassie
I had a betta fish who was healthy and happy when I (stupidly) decided that it would be ok to keep it together with a new goldfish in a two gallon tank. I thought the betta would only be aggressive towards other bettas. They were doing fine for almost a month and then when I woke up this morning I...

How do you prevent water shock by [email protected]
Hi, how do you prevent "water shock" introducing new fish to a tank? I followed standard proceedure of adding new fish. Is there something I've missed? I can't think of what else could have killed my fish. Details: I have an established 30 gallon aquarium (running 5 years with 3 small cichlids and...

Angelfish and other loners by NetMax
Most fish have a tremendous amount of 'cousins'. The Neon tetra comes from a huge family of tetras - danios, mbuna, corys, rainbowfish all have huge 'families'. Plecos are so diversified that new discoveries are all simply numbered (ie:L121, L122 etc). Even fish which we might think are unique,...

T8, T10, T12 bulbs by Rick
I have some light bulbs labeled T12 and some T10 and see some in catalogs listed as T8. What is the difference, they appear the same to me. And while I'm at it, are 2 40watt (80w total) bulbs enough to support plants in a 90gal tank? Seems to keep the plastic ones alive :)

Any one have any feedback about automatic feeders (Netmax)? by Daniel Morrow
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 I just thought I would do a tiny survey about you all's results with automatic feeders, for fun. I myself have received proper operation of my automatic feeder at all times since I elevated it 12 or so inches above that tank's water's surface, and...

Source for Grässlin Rondomatic 400 by Jürgen Exner
I am looking for a Grässlin Rondomatic 400 automatic feeder. In Germany they are sold from 39 Euro, incl tax. Here in the USA the only dealer I could find so far is Foster and Smith (http://www.drsfostersmith.com) for 70$ US plus 9$ S&H. That seems to be a rather steep surcharge for the transport...

clown loaches by Justice
I at the moment have 2 clown loaches and have been reading that they should be kept in at least a group of 3. they are about 2" long, should I get 1 more. I have a 10 gal at the moment, untill I can afford a 30+ gal for them. They also share the tank with 3 glowlight tetras. Both are really cool...

The joys of fish keeping by Justice

Freshwater aquarium evolution by Empty
I had been thinking myself about the future of the hobby, and Netmax' foray into the world of hoods made me want to share my thoughts. I suspect the next evolution in freshwater tanks will take a sizable amount from the reef tank. In reef tanks, people try to complete an ecosystem, including deep...

New Betta and Angels by Tynk
I forgot to mention that before surgery I had to go hit the shops. I got so lucky and found a lovely copper male Betta (Delta tail). He's so sweet and changes color all the time. His coloring doesn't come out well in photos, but I have a couple that did. Sometimes he's kind of a whine colored with...

Another algae question by Suzie-Q
So I took my big ol' pleco out of the 2.5 gallon tank and put him in the 10 gallon tank. He's doing well, I guess. Hard to tell because he spends all his time inside the fake tree stump! :-( Now I'm getting algae in my 2.5 gallon tanks. Each holds one female betta. I'm wondering about those...

bleeding heart tetra---puffed up by Gravity
One of my bleeding heart tetras looks unusual. The best way to describe it is that it looks "puffed up". It seems to be swimming perfectly fine and there doesnt seem to be any other symptoms (it might be breathing a bit more rapidly than the other fishes) I can't remember the name of a fish...
