2002 explorer keyless entry by haywoodJawblomi
My keyless entry will not accept code, alarm sounds. I know you can issue an added code , but original should always work. It doesn't.

Hood Lifter(s) Not Working by STEPHEN SAUNDERS
Hello group, I have not been here for a while, but I have received very helpful information before. So far the winner was the advice about replacing my IAC valve. So here's a more mundane question. The high pressure lifter(s) that hold your hood open are not doing it anymore. Are they...

"Hum" in air intake in 98 Ford Explorer by [email protected]
A friend of mine has a 98 Ford Explorer XLT that has an intermittent problem - a "hum" in the air intake at times. When you lift the hood (when it's making the noise) you can hear the hum and putting your hand on the air intake (the box immediately above the air filter) you can feel a vibration...

Problems with leftovers by Jim Tiberio
Are there any problems that may be typical with a fairly old left over vehicle? I've found a dealer who has two 2005 Mountaineers, both with <100 miles. They are loaded models and are both priced around $29K. They are about $12K less than new and still $3K more than what KBB thinks a true...

Airconditioner Stop Leak kit?? by Jacob
I have a 1995 XLT and apparently, from what I've read on my prior posting here, there might be a leak in the AC coolant. I've read that you can buy a stop leak kit that might seal up the AC. Does anyone have any thoughts/suggestions on this? Could it damage the AC system? Is it safe to use...

Overheating 99 Ford Explorer by [email protected]
Looking for some ideas. Recently my Ford Explorer started overheating. It's a 99 4.0L SOHC with 120,000 miles. Once it cooled down I checked the coolant and it looks a nice green although the overflow tank was blackish. I started the cold vehicle up without the radiator cap on. Once the...

Air Conditioner '95 XLT by Jacob
The airconditioner on my XLT just isn't giving very much cold air. The compressor goes on for about 2 seconds, then goes off, and then a few seconds later goes on again for about 2 seconds. What could the problem be? I just had the belt tensioner replaced -- could that have caused this...

98 Explorer EB with high-end "Mach" radio (the one with the display issue) with Tape/CD/CD changer and steering wheel controls. Recently the radio has begun shutting itself off all by itself. I turn it back on and it comes back but then shuts off a while later. I don't think it's getting hot...

2004 Ford Explorer Auto 4X4 Button by displacednyer
Hi, I just bought a 2004 Ford Explorer XLT, and have looked through the owner's manual to see how you can tell if the Auto 4x4 is engaged. 4x4 high and low have indicator lights on the dash, but the auto 4x4 button doesn't seem to have an indicator. How do you know if it's engaged or not? Thanks.

My 93 Explorer 4.0L V6 4x4 needs an engine - 95 Windstar 3.8L V6 needs a transmission by Kirk J.
Will a 3.8L V6 from a 95 Winstar bolt up to a 93 Explorer 4x4 transmission and will the computer run the 3.8L? I have $350 in the Explorer and the Winstar is taking up space at Dad's, he would give it up for a little cash to get rid of it. I am open to scrapping both vehicles and getting another...

K&N filter debate by Rick W.
For over ten years now the auto engines are computer controlled. The computer determines the air to fuel ratio. Installing a filter with better flow, such as the K&N could potentially increase the air available to the engine. The computer sets the fuel air usage, so just because more air is made...

Whirring gears on freeway by Abbye
Hello, I have 97 Ford Explorer with 104K miles on it. When slowing on the freeway, I sometimes hear the gears whir and get no response then when attempting to accelerate. I can put it into neutral and then pump the gas pedal and then put it back into drive and it reengages. Tonight I drove...

Idle Issue - Jim Warman by Rick Wolford
I put in Jim's name in hopes of getting his attention. It appears to me that Jim is a professional Ford mechanic. For three years now I've been dealing with a bad idle. When sitting at a red light; the rpm's are on the low side, the engine sort of vibrates, enough that it sometimes causes the...
