help: electrical problems, 93 Saturn SL2 by J.B. Bobbitt
Most of the time it runs fine. If she leaves the rear defroster on and turns the key off, the battery goes dead. Sometimes, after the car starts normally, the aftermarket CD player/radio blinks on/off, the lights and gauges dim or go out, and after she turns the key off, the battery is dead. I...

Gas Milage by Scott
Hi, I have a 1996 Saturn SC2 DOHC. I usually go about 230 miles on a tank of gas. The last couple of months, I can barely go 200 miles. I drive mostly in the city, short trips, which I have always done. I am sure the cold weather has something to do with it, since I allow the car to warm up...

how to replace serpentine belt only SL2? by sadhya
We have a new to us 98 SL2 on which the serpentine belt just cracked and split. We think that the tensioner is fine, but need to replace the serpentine belt. The previous owner did not provide a manual, and we are stuck. Any advice or instructions would be greatly appreciated.

'01 lw300 engine stalled by Oppie
Was going home today and the engine cut out for no aparent reason. Odometer showed 60,608. Coasted to the side of the road and engine restarted with no problems. SES and Service lights were both on solid. Drove home without any further problems though shifting was a bit hard. Reset the trouble...

Ignition is locked by momcat21
Drove the car into the parking lot, turned it off, took out the key. Went back the next day - key won't turn the ignition. Steering is locked. It's like somebody switched keys (impossible since all three keys in the family won't turn the ignition). Steering wheel is locked, car in park,...

ION vs VIBE by Doug Mitchell
Dear Group, This is my first visit to rec..saturn. Thanks in advance for your advice. Our family is planning to replace our 13 year old Eagle Summit Wagon. Due to family connections we are trying our best to select a GM product. With this in mind we have narrowed our selections to this year's...

Crappy undersized wire in overpriced Saturn block heater by private
My pet peeve is the crappy undersized wire that Saturn uses on the genuine?? Saturn brand block heater for the S series. The idiot junior engineer that spec'd the wire obviously had no experience with winter. They must have saved a fraction of a penny on the material cost which they then wasted...

Blinking Temp & Coolant lights. 99 SL1 by reex01
The Temperture and Low coolant lights blink simaltaniously on my 1991 SL1 until the engine gets to normal operating temperture. Then they usually go off, but sometimes they will start blinking again. The coolant level is full (I just flushed the system and refilled to be sure that wasn't...

95 saturn SL2, stepping on the break pedal, it goes in soft and deep into the floor... by John Doe
I just got the new rotor and new break pad installed but the break pedal stills feels soft and goes in deep. It feels like the pressure isn't building up when I step on the break pedal. Any thoughts?

Thanks to the Group! - problem solved by Larry
My '96 SL has about 120K on it, and has been running good. I am cheap, and haven't spent much on this car. I do my own oil changes, and have never taken the car to the dealer for service except for stuff I couldn't figure out myself, the A/C had a $400 problem (fan) a couple of years ago, and the...
