Floating Battery Charger. by
[email protected]
Considering I do not use my van much, would't it be a good idea if I buy
one of those battery chargers? I own some old battery chargers.I was
thinking when I am not using my van, I could remove the battery and hook
it up to a new floating battery charger.I guess Sears sells some good
ones?

3000 rpm stall speed converter on the street? by
M.Burns
Looking at a big block Camaro. How annoying or livable would a 3000 stall
speed converter be? Rear end is 3:23 (I suspect higher would be better
because it would keep the revs up, so not sure how much slippage there would
be at 35mph and low rpm's).
I know gas mileage would not be good, but...

Ford headlight assembly question by
J
I am looking for a used headlight assembly for a 1988 Ford F-250.
Does anyone know if other years of Ford pickups are interchangeable with the
1988? Are they all the same for F-150, 250, and 350? Will a Bronco headlight
assembly fit an F-250?
I am looking at car-part.com and I see many listings...

How is the best way to purge brake lines by
[email protected][_2_]
I have to do a brake job on old Betsy and need to totally change the
brake fuid at the same time.
Is it best to totally drain the system, do repairs and then re-fill
eveything?
Or just undo what I have to and block the flow and then fill and bleed
until it is all done?
Or does it make any...

Factory training - should I be paid for for my time? by
Don C
I'm an apprentice tech at a Chevy dealership. They have had me take a
bunch of on-line classes that I do after hours. It was implied that I
would get paid for this time. I have completed all of the on-line
training and now they want to send me to Phoenix for 2 days for my
final hands on-diesel...

Will the mechanical/diaphram fuel on my 1978 Dodge van pump the gas from
a small gas tank (only a few gallons small gas tank) if the small gas
tank is sitting on the floor of my van? Or would I need to add an
auxialary electric fuel pump to the top of the small gas tank?
The reason I ask is beause...

my tires are hard! by
N8N
I'm just curious, is there any evidence that exposure to elements,
ozone, whatever causes the rubber in car tires to get hard? I was
whining and crying like a little girl about the Goodyear tires on my
company car and how unsafe they were in the wet, they had no traction
whatsoever. Eventually...

Moisture Avoidance in Tire Bags Used For Storage Outdoors ? by
Robert11
Hello,
When storing tires (winter or summer) outdoors in one of those more or less
sealed "tire bags," do
folks usually add a deliquescent such as Calcium Chloride (I think that is
what is often used ?) to
absorb any moisture ?
Or is something along these lines just never bothered with doing ?

Fuel economy, '88 NA Supra by
Hachiroku $B%O%A%m%/(B
First, a bit of background. I might do better if I fix the transmission
and the speedo cable. The speedo cable is broken at the tranny, and needs
a new piece to make things right. Only $80 for a 6" piece of cable. This
will get the speed sensor in the speedometer feeding to the ECU again...

AC Condenser leaks - how to repair? by
Bardy
Hi,
I'm a knucklehead DIYer. Last fall I successfully replaced the
radiator on my Toyota T100 pickup.
Now I'm trying to replace the AC condenser. After several years of
slow leaks & seaonal R134a refills, I began to notice shiny, neon
green around some of the condenser coils.
It's been quite a...

Reasonable ratings for a 1/2" impact wrench? by
Calab
I have an eight gallon air compressor... 4.3cfm @ 40psi and 3.5cfm @
90psi.
I've been looking at buying an inexpensive impact wrenche and notice
the different ratings on them, but many times they aren't rated the
same so comparison can be different.
For example...
For $29 I can get a no-name...

Hard to get off Spark Plug Boots
If you ever have a spark plug boot that is hard to get off one way
that has worked good for me is to take a 2-3 foot 3/16 brake line and
screw it into a air nozzle and then file the end of the line to look
like a hypo needle and then insert it between the boot and...

air - fuel ratio by
BobJ
What are the thoughts on the air-fuel ratio values using
todays fuels. How much does the (varied) alcohol content of
todays fuels modify the 'de facto' standard of 14:1 as the
target mixture?
