Trail(er) trash by
R. Lander
The "respect" for nature shown by offroad enthusiasts is documented by
all the cans, bottles and wrappers they toss on scenic trails. The
Rubicon near Lake Tahoe shows how these anthropocentric mouth-breathers
view the land. They can't be bothered carrying a trash bag and packing
it out. No room in...

gas prices too high or too low? by
ben
Don't know know if the question has been asked before, but humor me
for a bit and share your thoughts on gas prices and if ya think
driving an SUV is unpatriotic? In my own mind its a complicated
question that can effect US national security (the part where we in
the USA are dependent upon foreign...

"ENVIRONUST" by
GO Mavs
Funny how some people spend a good amount of energy trying to discount
global warming.
However, let's assume global warming does not exist. Everyone!
There is absolutely nothing wrong with conservation and preventing
pollution. Even if you don't believe in pollution.
The true problem that...

Overfilled Oil by
Spiderman
I think the shop slightly overfilled my oil crankcase at the last oil change
on my 1989 Chevy S10 Blazer 4.3L 4x4....the dipstick is reading "off the
charts" and when I'm parked I get a small drip of very watery brown fluid (I
assume it's overfrothed oil) under the engine compartment. The fluid is...

R12 Topping Off by
Spiderman
I have a 1989 Chevy S10 Blazer that blows out warm A/C. It's low on R12 so
the compressor just cycles on/off. I'm gonna top it off with R12. Is a gauge
necessary or can I just play it "by air". Where can I find the normal
low-side, high-side pressure ranges?

Air intake mods? Which one? by
james
Question for all you auto buffs. Ive got a 95 Jeep grand cherokee.
It has come to my attention that it might be possible to increase Fuel
Economy by adding one of these mods from ebay. Can you give me your
opinion on the following:
1) can you use one of these "performance modules" in conjunction...

There's much more than drunk drivers that need to be controlled by
donquijote1954
There's much more than drunk drivers that need to be controlled. It's
the whole system that needs to be changed. The License to Kill given to
absolute beginners, the lack of lane discipline (passing on the right,
something unheard of in Europe), the reckless talk on the phone, the
driving of...

Lightweight 4x4, flip down windshield by
Jack Daynes
I'm in the market for a used 4x4. I'm looking to tow behind
an RV. I know Wranglers and older Land Cruisers have the
flip down windshields. Are there any others I should think
about.
The reason I want the flip down windshield is for nature
photography. That aspect of the vehicle is NOT...

Grand Cherokee Owners - Fight back!! by
Grumpy
Are you the owner of a Jeep Grand Cherokee that did not live up to
expectations?
More directly, did your Jeep Grand Cherokee suffer a premature rear axle
bearing failure? Did you find your contacts with Chrysler Corporation to be
unproductive in getting assistance to pay for the repair?

Tire life by

Hi,
I need advice about assessing tire quality from the experts/ gurus in
this forum.
With regards to tire composition and characteristics, what are the
important things I need to look out for when assessing quality of an
unbranded tire. Assuming that the tires are used in the recommended way

sparkplug by
semidemiurge
My mechanic broke off a sparkplug trying to remove it from the engine
on my 4runner and I am trying to research possible solutions. It
broke off halfway down the threads, so that half of the bottom metal
part is still in the engine head. I was thinking using and easyoff
extractor but worry about...

Most reliable SUV by

What is considered the most reliable SUV out there (AND with decent
handling!)? I have very good experience with Isuzu Trooper (and mediocre
with Dodge), and would consider another Trooper but am unsure how their
diesel engines perform (want turbo diesel this time)...
Also, I hear Toyota...

Freeze 12 in Chevy Blazer by
Spiderman
The air conditioning on my 1989 Chevy S10 Blazer just stopped working. I can
hear the compressor kick in but the air blows out warm. I'm thinking of
adding in Freeze 12 coolant since it's closer to R12 and less work to
retrofit than R134. Has anyone tried this?
