06 Corolla puzzling creaks at start-up by Dan[_6_]
I'm getting sometimes creaking noises coming from under the glove-box area for about 10 seconds after start-up. Car has digital climate control, so I suspect it's some actuator involved in this creaking. Other than the funny noise, the HVAC works OK. Any ideas? Cause for concern that a part is soon...

vacuum leak by Tom Del Rosso[_3_]
1992 Plymouth - There's a vacuum leak in my brake pedal, which I can hear when I push hard on it. Is it likely to be just a gasket or hose, or something expensive? The car is old so I might junk it, but I want to get an idea of how much this should cost. Thanks. -- Reply in group, but if...

power steering rubber hoses by js.b1
A couple of my power steering rubber hoses show several radial cracks on the lining, the braid and outer layer are fine. The radial cracks extend along the hose by about 4mm, the hose is otherwise pliable, fine. The fluid is ATF, I use Redline D4 ATF as just £2/litre more that generic at a...

TPMS ? by Bob[_53_]
Hi, Will be bringing car in to have tires rotated, and thought it might be a good idea to know something about this first: Re TPMS and tire rotation: a. does the monitor go with the tire it is in now, or must the rubber be taken off the rim to get at the sensor, and thus be able to move it to...

How best to respond to dangerously belligerant bikers (bicyclists) by arkland
How would YOU have handled this dangerous situation? I was driving an automobile today, minding my own business, with a child in my vehicle, on a two lane road (one lane each way). I encountered, what ultimately showed itself to be a belligerent group of bikers, who, attacked me en masse, and,...

Offboard hybridization by AD[_2_]
A thought occurred to me last night: why do you need to bother with lugging a huge battery onboard when you could just flush the battery and the motor(s) into the floor of a purpose built trailers. This solves the the hard winter starts problem and awd (lack of it) problem for BRZ in winter by...

Is it still okay to leave the car in On, without starting it? by micky
Back when there were ignition points, it was bad (at least there was a 25% chance it was bad) to leave the ignition on when the car wasn't running. When they got rid of points, it wasn't bad anymore. But that was 30 or 40 years ago. Is it still okay to leave the car in On, without...
