Plain key sticks in lock? Starting the car without a chip? by micky
I got a key made for my car at Home Depot and the guy who made them insisted that, since the key had no chip, t the ignition lock could grab the key and not let it out. Any truth to that for some cars? He also said the door could do the same thing? Any truth to that? Mostly I wanted a cheap...

two switches for seat belt by micky
The manual for my 2000 Toy. Solara shows 2 switches in parallel to indicate the driver has buckled his seat belt. Closing either of them will do the trick. Not only does the manual show the two switches, it gives them separate code letters, like B5 and B6, and mentions both twice in the tables...

Tire Definitions ? by Bob[_53_]
Hello, Having a bit of trouble with tire definitions. In the "old days," there was something called a snow tire. Big, deep lugs/threads. May, or may not, have studs, although the holes for them was always there, if I remember correctly. Are these generically the same as what is called a "Winter...

metal panel by micky
Do I have to replace the metal panel under my lower dash. What is it for? Had to take apart the under-dash on my 2000 Toyota Solara, like a Camry, and under the plastic is a pressed steel panel (I can go measure the thickness, but I can't flex it with my hands.) whose only purpose afaict is to...

Buying & mounting new tires tomorrow (two questions) by SF Man
I'm buying and mounting tires tomorrow and would like advice on two questions: 1. Where does that red or yellow dot go when mounting? (Does it go next to the valve stem or does it go on the opposite side of the valve stem?) The reason I ask now is that the tire guys don't always care to mount...

Timing belt, toyota, by Jessica Hill
I bought a used 1993 toyota corolla. 140,000 miles. The previous owner purchased it at 105,000 miles. During the time he owned it he never had the timing belt replaced. Since toyota recommends replacement of the belt (70,000 miles) I am not sure if its ever been done. Several...

Can I buy these? by micky
When I junked my old car two weeks ago, I forgot to remove two parts when I removed the hitch. The guy I sold the car to was going to part it and then sell it to the crusher, and he probably still has the car and the parts, but if I can just buy them, it would be easier. They are the same: ...
