Lost Key - 1992 Saturn SL2 by Joe AutoDrill
Update... Apparently, the key does not have a chip. It's a simple metal key. No plastic key or spare key in the glove box, etc. So... It boils down to whether there is a way to ID the key code from the VIN or something else... Any ideas?

20W-50 in SL1? by Joe
1990's SL1's are notorious for eating oil due to sticking rings... Anyone ever tried running 20W-50? It's 13 degrees outside, I have 20W-50 in the car and it seems to start just fine except for a 2-3 second "valve tap" as the think oil tries to migrate. Think I'm risking a starter, oil pump,...

Cruise Control Part II by Joe
Anyone know how the cruise control unit senses the speed in a Saturn SL1 5 speed? Is it as simple as a magnet on the drive shaft and a prox or reed switch, etc? Joe in Northern, NJ - V#8013-R Currently Riding The "Mother Ship"

I'm running low on anti-freeze in my 1995 SL. Now... The big question is why... But the immediate question is what type to use... Anything special I need to know before I run off to the auto parts store? Joe in Northern, NJ - V#8013-R Ride a motorcycle in or near...

Possible Head Gasket? by Joe
My daughter's 93 SL1 with 166k miles overheated. There appears to be oil in the antifreeze and the engine oil level dropped about a quart. The engine still seems to run OK ( I ran it a couple of minutes to reposition in the driveway). What would this repair cost and is it worth it? There are...

2004 Vue V6 AWD by Joe
FYI, 14,000 miles, less than one year old and the battery fails. Saturn just replaced it under warranty but, so much for AC Delco parts!

2004 Vue V6 Remote Question by Joe
Is there a way to disable the damn panic alarm on the remote? Several times I've either hit the panic button inadvertently while attempting to lock the doors or I set it off while placing the keys in my pocket. I really do not need or want this feature. Thanks in advance for your help.

Just Bought 2004 V6 AWD Vue by Joe
I'm one of the few people left in this country that actually wanted a station wagon! I commute ~ 18 mi round-trip and occasionally need a vehicle that can carry things and is fuel efficient. I drove trucks during my early years and owned a Bronco II and Nissan pick-up. I was done with...

2004 V6 Vue Transaxle by Joe
I went to check the fluid level according to manual instructions. Oops! No dipstick...the tranny is sealed! I actually went to the dealer to find it. They couldn't believe the manual was wrong. This, along with the incorrect location of the cabin air filter (not behind glove box).

2001 SL2 - top of dash - removal by Jocko
I've noticed a rattle from the winshield area at the top of my dash. My dealer was unable to locate and fix the problem under warranty. Now that the warranty is up I might try it myself. The Chilton guide doesn't show how to remove the top panel (not the instrument cluster or...

Replacing drivers mirror glass by Jocko
During a cold snap 2 winters ago my drivers side outside mirror glass cracked down the middle. It has since fractured in a few more places so I've bought a new glass for it. However, my Haynes guide does not say how to replace the glass. Has anyone had any experience with this? Any hints...

Freezing gas door by Jocko
I'm not sure how common this is but it affects both my 2001 SL2 and my wife's 1999 SC1. If we wash the car in winter the gas door won't open. We have to have one of us pulling up on the release lever while the other pries open the door with a key, etc. to open it. When it warms up...

2001 SL2 - dash (top) removal by Jocko
My 2001 SL2 has developed a dash rattle . .. . just beneath the windshield. The dealer said that they couldn't find and therefore fix the problem when I took it to them while it was under warranty. Now that the warranty has expired I want to try myself. My Haynes manual doesn't show how to...

great milage by Jocko
I just drove from Saskatoon, SK to Airdrie, AB (592.5km or 368.17mi.) in my 2001 SL2 (5sp). I probably averaged just over 70mph (115km/h) for the entire distance. I used 40.72l (8.96 imp. gallons), which works out to 41.09mpg. The car is about 3½ years old now and has been great. I couldn't...

fast Idling by Jocko
My 2001 SL2 5-sp has been purring like a kitten ever since I bought it new. For the last week or so I've noticed that it is idling at a higher than normal speed. If the car is cold it revs to about 2300rpm and then after about 5 - 10 seconds comes down to the normal cold idle speed of...
