I need to replace the starter on my 1970 Eldorado. I start the car, the engine takes a second or two to try to start, then I get a sort of electric hissing. But on this car, where IS the starter Motor? I know what it looks like but why's it so tough to get to?

Anyone use those R-134 refil kits for air conditioning? by [email protected]
I am on the road and noticed my AC isn't performing well. Local shops want close to a $100 for an R-134 refil (97 Honda Accord). I saw an R-134 refil kit at Walmart for $20. Has anyone had success with these inexpensive refil kits? Thanks

Escort Steering Rack by Mike Walsh
My mother's 1992 Ford Escort has a worn power rack and pinion assembly. There is end play in the right side that measures 1/8 inch at the tire tread. I am guessing there is about 1/16 inch play at the tie rod. Is this an acceptable amount of wear? I am not worried about toe so much as the chance of...

Oil pan stick-on engine heaters - provide any warm air through the vents? by bryanska
Is a stick-on oil pad heater going to give me any HVAC heat, or will it just heat the oil? I am considering an engine heater, and have read that frost-plug types are the best. Easier-to-install Oil pan heaters (pads that stick on to the pan) will heat the oil, which is a good thing. But I'd like...
