"Heat Shields" On A 2005 Accord Problem by Bob[_53_]
Hello, Not too automotive sharp, so would be grateful for some advice on this. My son has a 2005 Honda Accord with 175K on it now. Dealership just told him that the "Heat Shield," and the "Rear Heat Shield" are 90 % gone. Guess there are apparently two heat shield in question ?

anyone have an old Trico catalog? by Nate Nagel[_2_]
Looking for some information on old Trico wiper blades, specifically those used on old Corvettes and Studebakers. I have gotten to the point where I have determined that the original blades for 63-66 are a PR-15 or PR-15-W and don't know what the diff. between them is. Does the "W" denote...

Why do men have issues with a woman knowing more about an engine thanthem? by [email protected]
I've been breaking down and building engines my whole life. Why can't I find a man who appreciates this? I just want to find a man who would enjoy working on cars with me on the weekends before we drag them.... Is that too much to ask for?

Dashboards - I don't get it by Vic Smith
Since the passenger airbag went off on my kid's '95 Bonneville he's replaced the dashboard and seats. He picked up a clean console dash he liked at the boneyard, and bucket seats. His split bench seats are in my garage. Next week he's going to fit the driver's Pontiac seat into my '97 Lumina,...

Other applications for power steering system by [email protected]
I'm building this thing called a treadle hammer and would like to know if I could use a power steering system to give me some assist. First, a treadle hammer is basically a foot-powered device used by blacksmiths to provide a third hand and some extra hitting power over a hand hammer. You push down...

Car Donation: What's the deal? by Proctologically Violated©®
Awl-- How is it/why is it these various groups seem very willing to take a vehicle, almost regardless of its condition? What's in it for them, when sometimes you couldn't *give* the vehicle away? Occasionally, you see fairly aggressive advertising--which proly isn't cheap either--for our old...

Cutting A Cat Out by Travis Bickell
Could anybody tell me how difficult it would be to cut a severely clogged cat that's also rattling out of of a 2" exhaust system using a hand-held utility saw with a metal blade, assuming there's enough room to operate? And if that's not to difficult, I'd also like to know how difficult...

Was planning to go out of town the other day, and my battery in the 97 Dodge Custom Van was dead as hell. In my haste, I checked all the interior lights, etc, and put the charger on it overnight. The next morning, the charge indicator on the charger indicated low, but I took a reading with a...

'87 supra turbo - mass air sensor / excess induction system oil by streamline
Will dead seals in the turbo cause excess oil to accumulate on the intake side of the turbo and "foul" the mass air sensor ? related question: engine revs good (albeit slightly) to about 1200 rpm then dies as it tries to go higher. If you can feather the throttle to get it past 1200 or so, it...
