93 explore brake question by
david hindes
Hello,
I have a 1993 ford Explore 4x4 and I am wondering how hard it is to replace
the brake cylinder. I have a leaky one that needs to be replaced and was
planning on doing this on the weekend.
Thanks in advance.

best model year 1997-2000? by
David J Burns
I live in the Greater Toronto Area, looking at buying my first SUV.
After monitoring used car listings extensively over the last 6 weeks
I've decided that an Explorer, with an outside chance of a Pathfinder,
is my best bet give my $10,000 CAD limit. 4Runners, Xterras and CR-Vs
depreciate too...

Fuel Gauge Problem by
[email protected]
The fuel gauge is reading beyond full when in fact it was about 1/4
full. I have since filled up and driven several miles. Is it possible
that a fuse could be the problem or am I looking at having the fuel
gauge replaced?

Explorer rear wheels won't turn by
[email protected]
Just driving down the road and power stopped going to rear wheels. My
1991 Explorer 4x4 has manual 5 speed, electric 4w drive selection, and
was in 2W High. The 4W drive system has been inactive for the last 5
years and the 2 buttons don't do anything. The clutch seems be
engaging but no power...

Clear plastic polish by

For those that used some polish to clear up the lens. Did you have to
take apart the headlight to do the inside part of the lens?
Thanks,
David

1999 UK Explorer - beeping ! by
[email protected]
Hi there,
I have just acquired a 1999 UK model Explorer and I have an annoying
problem. On start-up (and at apparently random times whilst driving) it
emits 5 bursts of 5 beeps (the same beep as when you open the door with
the key in the ignition).
At first I thought it was a frost warning as it...

1999 UK Explorer - warning light by
[email protected]
Last question - for now ;-) ...
I have started getting a warning light come on. It is on the upper left
of the instrument panel - an orangey yellow picture of the car with a
line through it. I can't work out what it's warning me about as nothing
seems to be amiss and it goes away when I turn off...

1999 UK Explorer - tyre pressures by

My newly acquired 1999 UK model explorer had no handbook with it. Can
anyone help me out with the correct tyre pressure for my 255/70x16s
(for both round town and cruising, if possible)
thanks

Looking for advice to buy newer Explorer by
[email protected]
I own a 97 Limited 4WD SOHC with 118k miles and i've been told by a
shop that the transmission went. The fluid is a dark nasty color and
when it gets hot it stops moving. If I let it cool it drives again but
then stops when it gets hot. Is it in fact toast and needs a complete
rebuild? If the...

Temp gauge on 97 SOHC stays at hot but fluctuates slightly by
[email protected]
I have a 97 Explorer Limited SOHC. A few weeks ago I started up the
truck and within a few minutes the temp gauge was all the way at the
top and the computer in the console told me to check the engine
temperature. Since then, every time I start it, even if it has been
sitting for days, the gauge...

Brake upgrade for towing with a 97 Explorer by
[email protected]
I've been searching this group and other Explorer resources on the
Internet but I haven't found much good advice on upgrading the brakes
on my Explorer.
I have a 97 Limited, 4.0 SOHC, 4WD and I plan on pulling a trailer
cross country this summer (I'm guessing about 3,500 lbs but I'm not
sure). As...

Engine dies while decelerating by
Davidq
This is a recent problem, 2 days tops. Sometimes when I start the car
it starts fine but then dies. I have to keep my foot on the gas to
keep it going. When I am driving and I slow down the rpm's drop fast
and the car can stall. After driving a while it seems to be fine, but
it does this even...

Slow Wobble by
Davidq
I have started to notice that when I am driving about 10 miles per hour
there is a steady wobble back and forth. As I accelerate above about
15 MPH it goes away. What could be causing this? Thanks in advance
for any help.

91 speaker wires by
DAVMO
Anyone know which of the wire colors in the plug on the back of the 91
AM/FM/Cas radio goes to which speakers? Or better yet, have a speaker
wiring diagram? I'm installing a similar radio from a later model TBird,
but it has a different style of speaker plug...same number of speakers,...

92 temperature cycles by
DAVMO
If it stays in the normal range while it's cycling, what is the problem?
If you are sure the Tstat has the correct temp limit, you may not have any
problem at all. Sounds like it is opening and closing just like it should
when the engine begins to heat up to the stat limit. My 91 typically...

Spark plug replacement on 91 by
DAVMO
Replaced the spark plugs last night. That right rear plug is a bitch to get
at. The original plugs still fired, but after 14 years it didn't seem like
a bad idea to switch. The gap had grown to about .075, somewhat over spec.
I'm hoping to gain a little better gas mileage with the...

2000 Expedition Rear Differential by

Thanks for the discussion here. You saved me $80. The guys at the oil
change place tried to pull this one on me this morning. Showed me some
plug covered with gunk and small metal shavings. It's the second time
they've tried to get me to have the service performed. Luckily, I pulled
out my owner's...
