Trees near pond by Mothership
Need to know if there are any trees that can be planted in close proximity (6ft. to 12ft.) to my pond that will not drop anything (leaves, fruit, etc.) that will wipe out my fish (golds, comets, shabumkins). Would prefer trees that will reach approx. 20ft with decent foliage to mask view of small...

Pump is working by Reel McKoi[_9_]
OK... it looks like an Earl Sheib abortion but it is working. We finally found someone to work with the ID/OD problems. A 1 1/2" hose leaves the pump and hits a T. Off the tee, on each side, are reducers (ACE hardware) that take it to 1"... so there should be no backpressure on the pump. One...

Pondmaster pump part #2 by Reel McKoi[_9_]
Well he jackbutted around town and there is no black hose anywhere to fit the 1 1/2" outlet for the pump. The pump has a barb end the hose goes over and clamps. He couldn't find any reducers that went from 1 1/2" to 1". So he came home with nothing but clamps. Since he has to go into...

Winterizing Your Pump by JB
I have an OASE Nautilus 1600 gph pump that I hook up to a pre-filter every spring to help clear/filter the water in my 3,000 gallon pond until my biofalls filter kicks in. Then, I disconnect it and usually it sits on the bottom of the pond until I pull it up and store it. I'm curious as to the...

New Pondmaster pump by Reel McKoi[_9_]
The new pump was delivered today and even with the adapter it wont fit the largest hose we have. The outflow is much larger than the one on the Becketts were. We're going to have to search now for a store that carries such a huge hose.... if we find one it wont fit the filter.... so we'll have...

Observing Western Chorus Frogs in Colorado? by Jean-Pierre Abello
I read that the western chorus frog lives in most of Colorado. I would like to observe one, but so far I have had no luck. Would anyone know of any specific lakes or ponds in Colorado where one such frog has been spotted lately? Thanks

Starting a new pond - very sandy soil by TahoeKid
I'm building a new pond / stream on a slope-to-level surface. The rise is about 3 feet. All of this will sit behind a newly constructed retaining wall. The area for this is pretty much pure sand, so shifting soil is a problem. Just wondering if anyone has done this and what problems I might expect...
