valves or pinging? by chibitul
Hi, how can I tell the difference between valve misadjusment and pinging? next time I fill up I am going to try higher octane, 93 instead of 87, if the noise goes away I conclude it is pinging, if the noise remains I think it must be the valves. is this logic correct or faulty? thanks

unbelievable! by finding z0
My daughter's been driving my '91 Acura (she's 18). This is the same car that had its oil drain bolt stipped by Jiffy-Lube recently, and had its AC converted to the newer coolant not long ago. She mentioned the battery light came on the other day. I told her this car eats a battery about every 4...

91 SI..eating a litre of oil a week, after rebuild??? by RayGun
Hi All I just rebuilt my daughters 91 SI last winter, had one broken and one bent valve. New rings, valves, seals, gaskets, the whole enchelada. 2000 km easy break-in period, passed the emission test no sweat, then slowly started to use oil. Seven months later it is using about a litre a week, but...

1999 Honda CRV - Low Engine Idle by mikenycz
I have a 1999 CRV that runs well. The one thing that I notice is that the engine idles at 300-400 rpm (using the tach on the dash). The car does not stall but when I run the AC, the compressor keeps cutting in and out due to the low rpm's (i.e. the AC is fine when riding at any speed). Only idle is...

Correct tire size? by Mofu
I recently got a good deal on a set of used, but minty, bridgestone potenza's (195/60R15) mounted on integra gsr blades and I'm planning on installing them on my 99 civic se. However, the new rim'n rubber combination is slightly taller and wider than what is currently on the car. Is it safe to...

Life-Time Brake Pads? by Nino NoSpam
Does anyone know if "Life-time" brake pads are a good idea for Honda CR-Vs? Will it affect ABS braking? Does Honda make them or are they an aftermarket product?

Swapping out brake bleeder screws by MAT
Hi All, I finally got speedbleeders for my Si of which I plan on installing with fresh brake fluid this weekend. My question is can I replace each screw and bleed it one corner at a time in one step or do I need to replace all 4 bleed screws and go back and bleed them again. I'm wondering if...

Groaning / Squeaking / Screeching noise from LR wheel??? by bertbarndoor
What could this be? It all started about a week ago. Whenever I turned in one direction (can't remember if it was right or left) the left rear wheel would squeek (sounded like it was once per revolution, *squeak* *squeak* *squeak* faster or slower depending on my speed. Now, for the last 2 days,...

AAAAaaaaaaaaaaarghhhhhhh! I drained the tank, topped it off, hit the trip reset and started my experiment. I drove down the tank until darn near empty using the air conditioner on recirc for the entire tankful. Last night the little lady ran some errands and put $10 in to get her around! See what...

Temp gauge reads cold - 1994 Accord by acellier
1994 Accord EX Car starts and runs OK, but mileage is a bit low. I think the O2 sensor may be shot - barely passed smog last couple times. But new issue: My temp gauge rarely rises above the bottom peg. Checked the TW sensor with an ohmeter and IR gun. The resistance appears very close to the...
