Mountaineer vs. Exploder by
S.P.
I am finally going to take the plunge and buy a new truck, retiring my
faithful '94 Limited. The top 2 choices are 2006 Explorer Limited (I'm
spoiled, what can I tell ya) and 2006 Mountaineer Premier. I want AWD,
navigation and V8. I do not want or need the third row seats. Can anyone
give me...

O/D light flashing -- fault code 645 -- HELP !!! by
Paul
Hi. I'm looking for some insight into a tranny problem I am having. I
have a 1995 Explorer XLT 4WD Automatic V6. Had tranny "rebuilt" last
week after slipping in several gears and O/D Off light flashing. On the
drive home from shop, car is running great for 20 minutes or so, then
O/D Off light...

Check Engine light question by
Art McClinton
I had the check engine light illuminate on my 97 Ford Explorer (105K
miles). Took it to repair shop and they told me it was a Cam Sensor. I
had them perform the repair. When the gave the truck back, the light
was still on. They told me that it had to re-learn the engine and that
it would go off...

Sirius Radio option on 2004 Explorer XLT by
[email protected]
Hi Guys,
I'm considering getting Sirius Satelite radio for my 2004 Exploder. It
has the "premium" sound system already installed. Has anyone with this
stereo gotten a Sirius ststem through the exisiting stereo? I know it
has a "satellite" button on the unit. Does it become a receiver with
some...

transmission question on cold start by
guntek
I have a '93 ford explorer auto trans, 115,00 miles. In the morning
(its cold now) when I start I have to drive for about 1 mile before the
gears will start to shift. Until then it stays in first gear. After
it warms up the gears shift normally. I think I may have to do a
transmission overhaul...

OOOPS! Used the wrong oil by
Jonah
I just did the first oil change in my new 2002 V8 XLT. I foolishly assumed (ass-u-me) it used 5W-30, like my 96 did.
As soon as I drained out the oil and popped the hood to refill it, I noticed the BIG yellow '5W-20' marked on the fill
cap. With no other transportation available to get back to...

Headlights won't go off! by
explorer_man
I have a 97 Explorer XLT 5.0 V8
This is a strange one. I can't turn off the headlights (or rear lights
or dash illumination). Even with the keys out they all stay on,
however much I play with the headlight switch on the dash, the stalk
and the autolamp slider. Now I have to remove fuses when I...

Clear plastic polish by
[email protected]
For those that used some polish to clear up the lens. Did you have to
take apart the headlight to do the inside part of the lens?
Thanks,
David

Tires for '03 Mountaineer (Explorer) by
D.D. Pallmer
My '03 Mountaineer is going to need it's 3rd set of tires soon...probably at
about 45,000 miles or maybe 48,000. They came with the Goodrich tires
(lasted 23000 miles) and I replaced them with the same. Here in tough, hilly
(stop hard and start hard) city driving of Pittsburgh 23000 isn't bad...

60K Maintenance by
Bob
I have a '94 explorer that all I've ever done maintenance wise are oil
changes, lube and air filters. It now has 61,000 miles (I don't drive it
much). Do I need to do some other maintenance such as fuel filter, spark
plugs and wires, etc? It runs great and just passed California enhanced
smog check...

2003 Explorer thumping upon accelleration. by
lastford
I bought a 2003 EB Explorer 4X4 in July, with about 34,000 miles on it.
On a road trip, I noticed a vibration beginning, only noticeable at
65-70 MPH. I took a look underneath and only noted a slight leak from
one of the shaft seals (between the rear differential and the left
wheel). I took it to...

2002 power windows by
cp1057
The window went down but won't come back up. Can hear the motor inside the
door panel but nothing happens. Took the panel off and can see a cable that
looks like it should be attached to something but don't know where. Is there
somewhere that shows a diagram of how it should be attached?

98 Explorer-Interior lights not on when unlocking doors by
tlim
I have a 98 Explorer EB. When I use the remote to unlock the doors, the
interior lights and puddle lights do not come on anymore. However, when I
open the doors, the interior lights and puddle lights come on. They use to
work fine, and have recently stopped. Anything to check .

Rough Idle on a 4.0 liter '92 Explorer by
dfwskier
Actually it's more of a cough and it is very minor. It is minor enough
that I don't get an engine warning light, and it passed my last state
emission check.
It only happens when in gear and stopped. If I place it in neutral or
park, or am driving, I don't feel it. Cold or warm (weather and...

Automatic Headlight Adjustment by
Big Shoe
The headlights on my '05 Limited come on too soon and then go on and
off as the light changes a bit. Anyone know how this is adjusted and
whether this requires some sort of program change by the dealer?
