newbie by Classicred03
Ok. I'm new to Miatas (well, got it in January) I'm new to the group. Question: Does anyone else downshift in tunnels and drive in parking garages in first gear near the redline every now and then just to hear the exhaust note? or is it just me? I always thought I was quite sensible until now.

Can you id this part? by pws
I am 99% certain that this came off of a miata, probably from under the dash. Before I go digging for part numbers, does anyone recognize what it is? http://img.inkfrog.com/pix/pat/miatapart.jpg Thanks! Pat

Bridgestone RE-11 short review by Lanny Chambers
I finally decided to replace the 5 year old T1Rs--only half worn at 12k miles, but too hard to trust anymore. Considering the car only sees ~1200 miles/year now, I ordered a set of RE-11s from Tire Rack. Very impressive. They are heavier than the T1R, but are quiet and ride almost as well, at...

Remote start for standard transmission? by Grant Edwards
Now that I'm heading into my first Minnesota winter in a long time without heated parking, I've been getting a bit jealous of people with remote starters. I know I should just tough it out, but that aluminum shift knob gets pretty cold and I hate wearing gloves while driving. All of the remote...

completely OT! by Chris D'Agnolo[_2_]
I know we have some serious computer nerds here, and I say that affectionately, even jealously ;-) Microsoft, in their own form of brilliance (stupidity really!), when XP changed to Vista, Outlook Express was dropped in favor of 'Microsoft Mail' which, is about the same but just enough...

Newbie by TRCSr
Hello All, I just purchased a 2009 Miata MX-5 with retractable hardtop. This is the first roadster I have had since the 70's when I had an Austin Healy 3000. I have been a member of the Chev Tracker group for many years, but as soon as I sell that little gem I will be dropping out of the group. I...

Hello I'm a newbie by Kathie
Hi All, I wanted to introduce myself to the group. I'm a new Miata owner. I absolutly love this car. It's a 1990 MX5 white. Mechanically this car is sound! She has some cosmetic flaws, but little by little I want to get it looking new. The panel where the trunk lock is broken so I'll need to...

Gotcha, you damn drunk driver by pws[_1_]
I was being tailgated last night, nothing unusual, but I was able to pull into the right lane to let them pass. The next thing I know, they are almost past me, then the turn signal comes on and they immediately pull right over into my lane. Only serious braking on my part and luck prevented an...

Aftermarket intake questions by Dana Rohleder
I am very happy with the performance of my Miata, but I am wondering if I can improve my current performance AND fuel economy with an aftermarket intake. Here is the rub - I currently get an AVERAGE of 30 MPG in daily driving, which is, from what I understand, better than average economy for my...

Weird AC problem. by XS11E[_1_]
Yesterday the 1992 Miata got a bath, charged up the battery (I haven't driven it in awhile, it bothers my knee too much. Time to sell?) and off I go, top up, AC on, AC seemed to cool for a few blocks and then started blowing hot air. Got where I was going and parked for a few hours, going home...

Anyone having any problems with PRHT model? by Herm
I thank everyone who posted on my previous question - Z-4 or MX-5 PRHT...which should I get? I'm 95% sure it's going to be the MX-5. Now I'm wondering - has anyone had any problems with the top? or anything else? I have monitored this group for quite some time and have seen very few problems...

ABS>>>So Confusing by Ringo
I have a 2000 MX5 Miata, and had gotten my Insurance Company to reduce our premium for our three vehicles by quite a bit, by driving so few miles on all three (Being reteired). Paid my premium in full to Liberty Mutual for both Home & Auto. Today in the mail get a couple of thank you letters,...

Basic Horsepower Upgrades by ritchiekidd
I'm a rookie mazda owner. I'd like to know if anyone has suggestions about how to increase the horsepower via minor/inexpensive changes, such as exhaust or air filters? I'm not looking to make my car a racer, just a little bit more balls, without sacrificing reliability. Any specific part...

Synthetic vs. Regular Brake Fluid by Wileyman
I am changing out the rubber brake lines with stainless steel on my '90 Miata and need to bleed the entire brake system. Trying to decide if I should go with a synthetic brake fluid like Valvoline or a regular DOT 3/4 like Castrol GT/LMA. All input is appreciated. Wileyman
