How quickly does Nitra-Zorb work? by Harry Muscle
I bought a bag of Nitra-Zorb (absorbs ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate) to make things a little bit easier on the fish I'm using to cycle my 55G tank. However, I haven't really noticed any difference in nitrite and/or nitrate levels since I put it in about a day and a half ago. Roughly how quickly...

Identify this fish please.......... by Reel McKoi[_10_]
Can anyone identify the long slender fish in the lower right-hand corner of this pic? Those I have have tiny little mouths and look almost exactly like this fish. http://www.fishpondinfo.com/barbs4.jpg The lady at the LFS got them in with a shipment of ghost shrimp and gave them to me. ...

Finally got some Clowns! by Bill Stock
No, not the resident YoYos. :-) I finally got around to replacing the Barbs that decimated themselves a few months ago, so I picked up four Clown Loaches (Tropical tank), 3 Yoyo Loaches (office tank) and 8 Cardinal Tetras (Tropical tank) to restore their numbers. They're all sitting in...

Bye bye tetras by Reel McKoi[_10_]
Well they're dying right on time as I feared. The advice I got here that they adapt to hard alkaline water isn't true, as least not for us here in middle TN. I should have known better not to buy them, as it was their death sentence and a waste of money. I'm down to 7 neons from a dozen, and...

Foam pad under aquarium by John DeBoo
Is this the same insulation stuff with a white cardboard piece on each side that Lowes & Home Depot sell in 4'x8' sheets (obviously wayyy more than I'd need? Or should I be using a bare 1/2" piece of Styrofoam instead? Grandpa John

Coralife Compact Florescent fixture noisy by ClownPleco
Hi all, The other night I was trying to replace the bulbs (straight 4-pin 65 watt) and the endcaps pretty much crumbled in my hands. I have found replacement endcaps on-line. In the meantime, I went back to my old tube florescent bulbs. The tubes were silent as compared to the compact fixture. ...

New Petco..... by Reel McKoi[_10_]
Our new Petco was a bit of a dissapointment. The aquarium supplies were excellent but the number of tanks was not large and the selection of fish small. I did get 5 really nice black neons, that was all. -- RM.... Zone 6. Middle TN USA ~~~~ }((((* ~~~ }{{{{(÷

Mystry solved.... by Reel McKoi[_10_]
Mystry solved - I hope. The tabs were the tabs for the pond water lilies. :-O They have a NPK of 2-1-12. I did another gravel vac, getting harder all the time because of the plants, and drained the water down to an inch above the gravel. Refilled the tank and will check the water values in a...

Moving Advice by Steve Giannoni
In a few months, we will be renovating our house, and will move temporarily into an apartment for 2 or 3 months, while the work is being done. We have a 45 gallon tall tank with about 30 of typical fresh water tropical favorites, with a flourishing annubius on each side of the tank. We need any and...

Anybody in NJ want a cichlid tank? by Big Habeeb
Well established 36 gallon bowfront tank, with tetratec pro filter, heater pod, air pump, bubble bar, 4 assorted malawi cichs, and a pleco. Crushed coral substrate, and some dead coral for decor. Not looking to make a profit on it...I've recently started a reef tank, and the wifey has advised me...

Submerged spider plant question. by Ghamph

Does anyone know how much longer they will last completely submerged like they are? There is also a common vine cutting with heart shaped leaves that seems to be doing well...
