Tires for a '90 Miata by Arye
It's time to replace the Kumhos on my '90 Miata. My thinking is to go up one size (from 185/60R14 to 195/60R14), to compensate for the slightly too-slow speedometer, and buy a set of four Sumitomo HTR A/S P01. My questions: 1. Any wise comments on the increased size? 2. Any wise comments on...

R12 to R134a conversion in MX5 Miata by Rich Hampel
Anyone have a 'handle' on converting the AC compressor oil in a 90 Miata from R12 compatible to R134a, etc. Any hidden items/issues I should be aware of, etc. Whats been your experience in AC efficiency after conversion to R134a, etc.? Thanx

black tonneau by BK
I'm needing a black tonneau cover for an M1...the OEM one that covers the entire cockpit and doesn't have the headrest pockets. Anyone have one in good shape laying around gathering dust they could part with? I don't need any of the hardware. Don't ask what happened to the one I...

2008 MX-5 factory workshop manual doesn't explain how stuff works? by hillpc
This is my first Mazda; what a sweet little car. As I do with every car I buy, new or used, I bought the service manual and wiring diagram. Compared to the GM or Ford service manuals, though, there's virtually nothing in there about how the systems work. For instance I was hoping to learn about...

Trip to California w/o Miata. by XS11E[_3_]
I'm back, I know you all missed me terribly, right? ;-) I was surprised, I posted last week about having to drive the van (2005 Buick Terraza) over so as to have the scooter and scooter lift available for use at the San Diego Zoo and was expecting the twisty parts of the trip over California 74...

Miata Soft Top - Food for Thought by Ephar[_2_]
I was just wondering why it's considered such a burden to: 1. Get out. 2. Raise the top. 3. Get in. 4. Latch the top. 5. Get out. but nobody complains about:

2000 Mazda Protege: No brake lights!! Why? by [email protected]
Was stopped by a woman today who told me that my brake lights were not working. There are three of them and NONE are working! I cant imagine all three bulbs going out at same time so checked for any blown fuses but they looked OK to me. So.... it has to be a relay or maybe switch in the brake...

Downshifting 101 (questions) by [email protected]
Well, I am teaching myself how to do a rev-matched downshift. No heel- and-toe or double-clutching for now, just your basic single-clutch downshift. So I thought I'd present how I'm going about this, and invite people to chime in with improvements, or point out mistakes in my approach. I only...

Oil drain plug by Clark Friedrichs
Folks, I was just at the Miata.net site looking for the torque specs for the drain plug on my '03. In the torque spec section it states 22-30 lbs for a 19mm plug. I have a 17mm plug, does anyone know the torque spec for that? Or am I being just a little anal? Thanks

Cranky starting by Leon van Dommelen
Bozo is somewhat cranky in starting nowadays. The relay(?) clicks but often the starter motor does not turn over. Then I have to either press the start button a number of times (burn off moisture between contacts?) or rock the car a bit with the brake off and it in gear. I believe this is wear...

Looking for replacement rearviewmirror by Jeroen Feelders
Someone kicked off my right rearview mirror yesterday, so I'm looking for a replacement. Since I've got an imported Miata I'd like to replace it with an original 'Objects in mirror are closer than they appear' mirror. The ones I can buy in Europe don't have that text. Can someone help me out...

check engine light at 2K mi by CR
The check engine light in my 06 MX-5 came on this weekend. Oddly, it SEEMS like it came on precisely when the odometer rolled over 2000 miles. Checked everything the manual says will cause the light to come on. Nothing obvious. Is it just conspiracy paranoia or is Mazda actually making their...

trailer hitch on a MX-5? by [email protected]
My partner wants to put a trailer hitch on our MX-5 so our new toy (a tadpole trike) can be carried. I am certain that a hitch would lower the trade in value of the car. He says it would not. Anyone care to comment?

New top installed!!! by Tom Garrett
Over the weekend, my bride and I installed a new Robbins No-Zipper Glass window top on her Red 93. We followed the instructions that came with the top, and the four sets of instructions from Miatanet. We still had a major problem in that we forgot to re-fasten the cable until we had already done a...

Took the Plunge! by Tom Howlin
Well, I bit the bullet and bought the Corvette, picking it up Friday in Atlantic City, NJ (closest I could find one). Magnetic Red (but of course!) with cashmere leather interior. Was offered $4K for my 92 from a private buyer and took it since if I get back into the Miata world, it will be in a...

M2 top/leaking help!!! by josh
OK I've about had it!! I have a 2000 Miata and any time there is a hard rain overnight, I get in the car in the morning to find a gallon or more water standing in the driver's side footwell. Some have suggested cleaning the "drains" but I can't figure exactly what I'm supposed to be doing with...

So do you avoid poor weather? by Rivergoat
Never mind about hurricanes...NO ONE should drive in those *:) While I'm still in the preliminary mode of searching Miatas (NBs, and low mileage ones at that) that I could possibly afford, I see some people owning ones that state they've never drivien them in the rain or snow. Certainly garaging...
