'01 Yukon Rear Disc brake pad change by [email protected]
Greetings; I'm about to help a neighbor change the brake pads on a Yukon SUV. I'm not sure of the year but it is probably a 2001, model SLT. Are there any tricks in changing front and/or rear pads? Do I need the special tool to rotate the rear piston back into the caliper, or is it as easy as...

89 cutlass sierra TPS adjustment by Trav
Is there anyway to adjust the throttle position sensor. Tried putting a used one in but still same results. While going down the road the car pulses and surges, kind of loses power and slows then jumps back up. its a tech 4 2.5 ltr sounds like a diagnostic comes back as the TPS is low.

Question on Stalling??? maybe fuel pump?? by hdivr
I have a 2003 Ford Explorer Sport Trac with 68,000 miles. I'm thinking I have a fuel related problem. Idles fine and will accelerate normally up to 3,000 rpm. After that, runs rough and won't accelerate. Let off throttle and idles normally again. So I replaced fuel filter.....no luck. Now I'm...

98 Maxima/Start-up Blue Smoke by Cool Breeze
Hi, my 98' Maxima has about 126,000 miles; it runs great; burns about one quart of oil every 2,200 miles; and all other fluid levels are perfect and so far require no topping off. Problem: If I've driven it hard the night before, it tends to smoke from the tailpipe upon starting (blue smoke). ...

Engine brake in Automatic gearbox by [email protected]
Hello. In an Automatic gearbox, instead of a clutch, there's a torque converter, right? Now, I know that in manual gearbox, engine brake happens because the engine is 100% connected to the wheels - so engine revs down = car slows down. However, in automatic gearbox, there's the torque converter -...

Mazda 626 sway bars by nrmartin
I have a '99 Mazda 626 V.6. Are the following the same thing? "sway bar link kit" and "sway bar bushings and stabilizing links"? I had the former replaced in Feb. 2004 and am being told I need the latter. If they are the same, how often do these things need to be replaced, normally?

Transmission Valve body gaskets by davemac[_1_]
Any tranny techs out there? I have been rebuilding my wife's 93 Toytota camry transmission valve body (A540E) and have run into a snag. I have all the replacement gaskets, but for the seperator plate gaskets, the original gaskets seem to be 'bonded' to the upper and lower seperator plates. Don't...

I rounded the bleeder screw - what now? by bryanska
Hi, I bled the brakes in my 2002 Alero yesterday, for what I plan is the only time. I'd like to know the bleeding process I'll have to follow, now that I have to replace one bleeder screw. Two of the bleeder screws were rounded in the process. I used a flare nut wrench specifically designed for...

1992 buick 5.7 odometer malfunction by [email protected]
My odometer works when I am traveling over 60mph and not below. I replaced speed sensor on transmission and it didn't help. It is a big problem because fuel gauge is also not working and I have to guess how many miles I have driven and have run out of gas once! Trip odometer even travels in...

1998 GM Express Van by oman
My van cools okay when going down the road, but does not cool at all when at an idle. I've hooked up pressure gages and they read about 40 psi on the low side and 200 psi on the high at idle and at 2000 RPM they read 30 psi and 230 psi. The outside temp is about 90F with about 50% humidity. I'm...
