Mesonauta Festivum by Paulo
I have 2 MF, one is 4.5" and the other is 2.5". They are in different tanks. I want to put them together, but teh big one is quite territorial. I guess adding the small one to the tank where the big one has settle down his territory is making thing more difficult. The tank is a 25gl, with the...

Can the floor of a trailer hold the weight of a 75 gallon tank? by aquadd
Hey everyone, can the average trailer in good condition (or 'manufactured home' if you prefer) hold the weight of a 55 gallon aquarium? What about a 75 gallon? I REALLY want some cichlids, but I want to do it right, in a large tank. But then again, I don't want to wake up one morning to find...

Bait minnows as feeder fish??? by Cookie
Just wondering if it would be potentially bad to feed bait minnows (i.e. crappies, fat heads) as feeder fish to a oscar that is too big for rosey reds but too small for comets. Also, how about the worms at bait shops? A heck of a lot cheaper than at the petstore. I have a strong suspicion that this...

P. saulosi by Cris
Hello everyone, I have an empty 30 gallon (3' long) that I would like to use for my first African Cichlids. I know this tank is a bit small for most Africans, so I've been doing a lot of searching to find who I might be able to keep. I love the look of P. saulosi, and some websites I've found...

blue/green cichlid by Brian Shapiro
A few years ago came across a photo of a cichlid that was a bright blue with bright green highlights. Can anyone tell me the name of any type of cichlid which resembles this so I can look up the photo again and more information. thanks, Brian Shapiro

Success (again)at long last by Thomas Neuin
My kribs finally bred again, after over 1 year between successful spawns. Thanks to the people who suggested I remove the pleco. There are at least 50 and maybe as many as 80 tiny babies.

Any color difference between male and female mbunas? by aquadd
I know male peacocks are beautiful while females are drab, are there any color differences between male and female mbunas? I'm thinking of buying some online from aquariumfish.net and don't want to ask for a male and a couple of females then find out that the females aren't colorful. Thanks!

injured fish question by Trevor
Hi My pair of Dempseys have just spawned and have obviously been defending their spawning site with zeal. One of my pair of Oscars has taken a hit or two as I can see missing scales. I also have a pair of Peacocks and one of them has taken a hit to the side which has left a small open wound The...

Most and least aggressive cichlids? by aquadd
I'm interested in cichlids from Lake Malawi. Which types are least aggressive? Peacocks? I want some pretty fish and I'd like to see them breed, but female peacocks are ugly, so if I go with peacocks it'll be an all male tank. Are there any species/groups that aren't too aggressive and have...

silly question by Colleen Dawe
Have you ever heard of using non clumping non scented kitty litter in tanks with cichlids? It is supposed to be placed in the tank then a fine layer of gravel added over it. I have heard of a few people doing this and I was wondering if anyone here has ever tried it. -- Ladytunderin

"Cichlasoma" facetum by Sarotherodon
I have an adult breeder pair and one extra female chanchitos. They are the "oblongum" variety and originally came from Tangled Up in Cichlids. They are much more colorful than most strains. I doubt that the "oblongum" is a valid species, but that is the name they are being sold under. Anyhow,...

Angels, Fry Fry Fry why do they die by skozzy
I used to remove the parents to a new tank and not the fry, if its a community tank then your pushing your luck. Feeding the fry, well I used a liquid fry feed for a long time until they grew bigger, then feed them on flake food that was put in a blender and turned into dust. Feeding amounts for...
