Analogies, trains and FIRST-Racing... by
Tony Rickard
My train analogy for FIRST Racing:
Back in 1990 a company made its first passenger train. It was the best
passenger train ever made and defined the design of trains for the future.
The engineers and designers were heralded as innovators.
A competitor surpassed it in 92 as new techniques and...

GPL audio problem by
Luvrsmel
Anyone know what could be causing my cars to sound like they're buzzing?
I installed GPLEA Engine Sounds and it worked really well for awhile.
But then the sounds have gone awry and re-installing GPLEA hasn't helped at
all.
Thanks for any suggestions :)

How many active players in iRacing now? by
rcgldr[_2_]
Since they dropped the prices quite a while ago, I assume that
the number of active players has increased quite a bit. Anyone
here know how many active players and how many current iRacing
subscribers there are now? Last I recall it had increased from
around 10,000 to 14,000, quite a few players,...

New Orleans deserves this hurricane by
reggie white
After years of sinning every year at Mardi Gras, after years of
disrespecting the laws of the Bible, after years of promoting gay
marriage, New Orleans is finally facing God's wrath. I have no sympathy
for sinners. My greatest fear is that the Superdome will collapse taking
70,000 African-Americans...

Opinion on iRacing short falls. by
Niles Anders[_1_]
I was listening to the interview with Eric Alexander at Opinion Nation,
especially about leagues at iRacing. Eric says, and I'm paraphrasing,
that iRacing fears that if they allow private leagues then guys will go
"hide" in those leagues and undermine what iRacing is about.
Think about that. If...

little bit stronger), "Allow..." unchecked, in-game 20.0/50, linear,

What happ to the Pits? by
Mitch_A[_1_]
Ive been going to the Pits for around a decade and over the past years Ive
noticed the forum traffic there is gradually fading away. A few rFactor
posts but nothing on GTR2 or any Simbin products. Why nothing on the best
current Sim (GTR2?) Has activism gone astray at The Pits and pulled the...

What do you think guys, the evolution of a whole new rascar...

A new sim and a whole new start.
Imagine it now, Fisher & Simmons hand in hand dancing in meadows... er
well maybe not but it could be some good fun and ras does seem to be
buzzing again these last few days. Any takers...

Using a G25...
I'm having trouble getting the desired force feedback feel in rFactor.
For one thing, I don't want any artificial vibrations or shocks
transmitted through the wheel. Shocks and vibrations that would
naturally be transmitted through the steering linkage is fine.
What would be...

rFactor controller setup....weak by
Remco Moedt
And with weak I'm putting it mildly...when your controller isn't
mainstream you can forget it. This is a problem with all ISI based
games BTW. A bit painfull when you realize that a certain 7 year old
game doesn't have a single problem...
I fear I've to ask my money back....
Cheers!

RBR where to buy in Canada by
Mike Beauchamp
I live in Canada too, and I was just thinking about this for a minute...
Ideally, if the game gets released in Canada, I'd LOVE for it to sell as
many copies as possible.. so people realize there's a market for this kind
of thing here. But, all the hardcores are just buying it from the UK...

XP, SBLive, TSW by
EldredP
Well, I built a new computer(thanks to a generous fellow sim racer). Since the
mobo doesn't have any ISA slots, I can't use my PDPL gamecard. The USB wheel I
have doesn't have split-axis, so that makes it difficult to drive. I tried
using my SBLive's gameport to run my TSW wheel. Couldn't...

I agree, but I think it's probably unfair to criticise iRacing for this business
decision. After all, what kind of message does it give out if they automatically
assume you won't renew?
Having said that, I think it would do no...

HDTV gaming by
Bob Loblaw
I'm planning on buying a 1080p HDTV set and i was wondering if games like
GTR2 and rFactor support 1920 x 1080 resolutions. Also, i'm hesitating
between DLP and flat panel LCD. Which technology would be better suited for
gaming?

Slip Ratio and Tration Force by
Abdo Haji-Ali
Greetings,
Searching for a slip ratio equation and its relation to the traction
force, I found two seemingly different formulas:
slip_ratio = (angular_velocity * object_radius -
longtitudinal_velocity) / longtitudinal_velocity
F = slip_ratio * traction_coefficient
And,
