any cops still using the Crown Victoria ? by [email protected]
There was an article in a motoring magazine last year claiming that 200 Crown Vics were still in service, having not done enough miles to be retired. But occasionally one sees a story on the evening news, the cop car is a Panther. I suppose there will be a big hoo-ha when the very last one goes.

That is not normal, there is a vent valve to compensate for that.

Idler pulley squeeks, lubricate or replace? by [email protected]
My 94 Saturn SL2 squeels when first started, and may be getting worse. Likeliest guess is the idler pulley bearings. It's not an easy replacement, going through the wheel well. Should I be able to get away with just lubricating it? With what? Nils K. Hammer

Why are torque wrenches eschewed by many mechanics by [email protected]
Techs who don't use a torque wrench are just grease monkeys. I hate techs who overtighten nuts and bolts. They supposedly have the right tools, and then don't use them properly. Use a torque wrench donkey.

Engine run time to keep battery charged by Tom Del Rosso[_5_]
If you turn over an engine periodically to keep it charged, how long do you run it to make up for the charge lost in starting? In this case it's my neighbor's 87 Buick Regal while he's in the hospital. --
