Working for an elderly lady who moved into house with a small (4' x 6' 2-2 1/2 feet deep with small waterfalls at each end. The pumps are labeled PumpMate 260 US and PetMate.com. FROG KILLS KOI IN UK POND by [email protected]
Myself and at least 3 others witnessed frogs clamping round the gills of koi carp in a pond in Bournemouth. We watched for a good half hour trying to work out what was actually happening. I genuinely believe they were trying to smother the fish. Definitely happened though no matter what the reason

Does algaecide kill lilypads? by [email protected]
"Could the death of lilypads be caused by the algaecide? The label claimed it was safe! " O shoot! I only wanted to subdue the algae, not the other water-plants. Good thing I did not throw it in yet. Shac Ponder. Website gives no info, just that it is safe for fish. I have a bale of...

Empirical method for finding leaks by [email protected]
Just came across your post on determining a leak in a pond and I have a question. I have a pond that is approximately 2400 gallon that is filtered by a bog. I am losing about 100 gals. of water daily. We just replaced the bog liner to be sure it wasn't the culprit, but it's June, in the south, and...

FROG KILLS KOI IN UK POND by [email protected]
We have had the exact same experience. The frogs killed all our fish by clinging on to them. I tried to prise them apart with no joy. We now keep our pond purely as a wildlife pond with no fish, which is better for wildlife anyway.

Soggy lily flower buds by Lintama
HI all. I have a problem with my water lilies. Got a couple of pretty flower heads but I also had several mushy flower buds that just were floppy in the water. Filter/UV sequence. by JBL2527
I have acquired a pressurised filter (mini dustbin with foam filters inside) and a UV (light in a box) unit. What should be the sequence in which they are linked ? Pump in pond to ...? bin or UV, which comes first ? I was then assuming it will be ok to then link the two units with Flexi hose and...

FROG KILLS KOI IN UK POND by [email protected]
I have just witnessed this myself , I have just netted my koi at bottom of pond with a frog on top of it-the frog had wedged its front feet into the fish gills killing the fish. It is mating season at the moment - so this is possible. I was a bit quick removing the frog from the koi to see if the...

give some of stranges'goldfish pics by [email protected]
I found this blog while trying to find anything I could about frogs killing koi fish. We have a very large natural pond with 12 medium to large koi. Last spring for the first time we started to see tiny black fish in the pond, needless to say they were baby koi. We had a few hundred, many were...

Aquaplancton by philip mould
Last weekend i mixed with water and decanted a sack of this in my wild pond to reduce algae. I had a thriving shoal of tiny (1-2 cm long) Golden Rudd fry. Three or four hundred probably. The effect was devastating. Within three days most of them had died. There was nothing in the instructions to...

Fix your existing Pond Liners Leaks*Immediately by Joan keeley
Protection could be a reason once pond liners are used. Once a hole is, a pond liner is placed within the hole so it's stuffed with water. Rocks are then placed round the perimeter of the pond to hide up the sting of the pond liner, and additional rocks are congregated on a mound of dirt lined with...
