"No Safety Problem" -- Toyota accused of 'not being frank' by
john
WASHINGTON -- When owners of Lexus sedans began reporting harrowing
crashes involving stuck accelerator pedals in early 2007, Toyota told
U.S. safety regulators there was no safety problem with its floor mats
-- but it would send owners an orange warning sticker just to be sure.
The flaw has since...

Basic Tire Pressure Inflation Question by
Michael[_11_]
Of course I realize a tire pressure gauge is inexpensive, etc., but I
long for the days when filling tires with air at a service station was
free AND the inflation areas had devices where you could preset tire
pressure to be achieved (reached when the bells stopped clanging!!).
Now you put a...

Where can I get an old style non CARB 5-gal gasoline can? by
Brent[_8_]
Where can I get an old style non CARB compliant 5-gal gasoline can?
I pine for the days when 5-gallong gas jugs had a pour spout and a vent.
All the gasoline cans I can find in the stores are something called "CARB
compliant". They are miserable abominations.
I've never spilled so much gasoline...

I thought the subthread with the semi-asstute-but-still-deluded Whoyakidding
should get its own thread, cuz it's a really important topic, imo butt
another facet of Le Pubic's Global Ass****ing. .

crappy brake shoes by

this is what happens when you use cheapo brake shoes - you abrade the
inside of the drum, create a lip, and end up having to cut the drum off
because the lip will no longer fit past the self-adjusting shoes...
this from a honda civic. use...

different gas, different gas mileage by
Ashton Crusher[_2_]
I've always liked chevron gas because it has techroline, which is one
of the best fuel detergents. But I've noticed lately that when I buy
Chevron my 2009 PT seems to get about 2 - 3 mpg worse gas mileage. My
other typical fill up is some "FastGas" type place. This change has
happened often...

Oil life indicator by
Shawn
I own an 2007 Saturn Aura XR with about 59,000 miles. I've had the
car since July of last year and so far I've put on about 23,000
miles. I drive on average of about 950 miles per week. I've only had
the oil changed twice in the nearly 6 months that I've owned it. Both
times that I've had it...

Q: new shocks/struts - when? by
[email protected]
How do I know when my car needs a new set of shocks/struts?
The car is a 2001 Corolla CE, 121,000 miles. The suspension feels
pretty soft - much softer than that on my 1992 Civic LX (222,000
miles.)
But I can't remember whether it's always been this way, or if it's
gotten softer over time.
Cheers

Fuel Vaporization and fuel economy by
cody_e
Hi, my name's Cody and I think I'll make this place a regualr hangout.
I'm 16 and have been driving for over 9 months. School is about 12
miles from my house. I drive a Dodge Neon so gas isn't that bad of a
problem, though I'd like to get better gas mileage. I stumbled on this
concept called "fuel...

Sam's Club service disaster by
[email protected]
I drive a 2000 Mazda Millenia with the 2.5L V6 and it has 96K miles. I
took the car to Sam's Club to get 4 new tires. I had gone in to get a
few items and came back out noticing my car was up on the lift with the
rims/tires off the car. It was at least 3 feet in the air, when I saw
it drop. A...

Used sedan recommendation? by
2000OdysseyLX
I am looking to replace my reliable 10-year-old sedan with a more recent
model and am genuinely interested in recommendations people might have.
For a while I'd considered a Passat, but I've read bad reviews of their
reliability, and a friend with a 2003 Passat has had a lot of trouble

Question on interference engine failure, does this sound right? by
Eric B.
I've got a 1995 mitsubishi galant. One owner, one driver, always garaged.
Was used as a highway commuter for half it's life, and the other half it
mostly sat in the garage (weekend ONLY runabout). It has been extremely
well maintained. Up until last week, it still looked and ran like NEW. ...

Source For LED Panels (See Design) by

I've got a 1971 Ford LTD Convertible. These cars have eight 1157 style
bulbs in the rear to give full width tail and brake lights. That's a LOT
of current going through 30+ year old wiring, switches, and corroded sockets
when you hit the brakes.
This is what the rear end looks like: ...

Hybrid car cost of ownership by
Tom Del Rosso
Besides higher mileage I suspect there must be hidden costs or else there
would be hybrids on dealers' floors. Is there a significant cost due to
replacing batteries or something? Or are they just not ready for primetime?
